In Springfield, IL they've reconstructed the state capitol as it stood when Lincoln was there, doing his thing, before he headed off to Washington. The building is populated with antiques from the time period -- this is one of those -- an original stack of bureaucratic paperwork bound with red tape. This, supposedly, is where the term comes from.
Unloading summer leftovers from a quick weekend trip to Springfield, IL sometime back.
Completed in 1898 and serving railroads for 73 years or so, Springfield Union Station looks as good as ever. It primarily serviced the Illinois Central, but also the B&O, C&IM, GM&O, and several others.

Among these investments, the Baker-Polito Administration announced the award of $4 million to 45 non-profit technical assistance providers to continue working with small businesses and entrepreneurs from traditionally underserved communities to grow and expand their businesses. In addition, the administration announced $14.7 million in awards to 15 organizations under MGCC’s Community Development Financial Institution and Community Development Corporatioon’s Match Grant Program, which funds both lending and mini-grant programs for small businesses. The BNSF is rather straight-forward coming into the Underground. A run around and a pair of spurs and that's it. BNSF 3400 waits in the background for a new crew on 1-22-07.
This terrace stands opposite gordon busbridges at the top of london road.
Sadly it looks very run down and unloved today.
There is not too much going on here, but it does look sort of pretty if you view it large or in the original uploaded size. Stay warm everybody. So far we are having a very mild winter.
Long overdue addition of ball bearings to DEC axis completed, will make motor drive easier.
