Springfield in Southern Vermont. One of those small places on American Northeast apparently lost in time and space. Not much is going on there, but the scenery is the most spectacular.

Telescope first light was June 18, 2010. Configured for quick setup on portable tripod and it's a joy to use!
Springfield Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope (SSCT) commercial rights retained, by Ed Johnson.
Above drawing shows the generic SSCT which can readily be changed into four additional configurations. Drawings soon for *Nasmyth for camera, *stock SCT, *Springfield using stock OTA, *SSCT with transfer lens for warm room.
Russell Porter envisioned a classical Cassegrain version of his famous fixed eyepiece telescope, but he died before the evolution of the popular SCT. The overhead head knocking counterweight is now gone, see Flickr photo set.
