Ok , ok, I admit, it is the springwatch star that inspired me to draw this! watching the webcam, it was such a picture-perfect scene, I couldn't help myself!
Not many insects...especially butterflies - around today but I spotted this really shiny bug....he is the size of a ladybird and a dark metallic blue and his wings are red - I have tried but no idea what he is....anyone??
Two birds engaged in a chase, perhaps the lower one (woodpigeon) avoided the predator by creating a stunning diversion !
After many attempts at trying to get one of these, i finally managed a half decent photo. They just don't stand still for a second.

Not as tasty as peking duck :p.
If what I have read is right, there are less that 7000 nesting pairs of these birds in the UK, and we're proud to have one of of those pairs :). They are incredibly timid though, and won't join the others when we put duck food out for the rest of the local residents.
