A large and beautiful doe gave into the overwhelming tug of Springtime Temptation, emerging from the dark woods in the very early evening, to graze on the delicious and tender Alfalfa crop in a farmer’s field nearby.

Alfalfa is a perennial flowering plant in the pea family, widely grown and cultivated throughout the world as an important forage plant for cattle. Most often harvested as hay -- but can also be made into silage, grazed, or fed as greenchop -- it has the highest feeding and nutritional value of all common hay crops and has been cultivated as livestock fodder since at least the era of the ancient Greeks and Romans.

Springtime in Montana: Montana Rail Link’s Paradise local is heading back to Paradise and is just west of Toole, Montana, on May 3, 2012. Under a leaden sky that is occasionally spitting rain, two venerable EMD GP9s, Nos. 113 and 127, power the train past some early blooming shrubs and flowers along a murky Clark Fork. Wish this local was still running today…

Flowers blooming in early March in San Antonio signal the beginning of springtime.

I visited this field in Sherfield-on-Loddon today at the side of the River. Last year it was full of Ragged Robin and buttercups. This year - just buttercups and some clover. I suppose the Ragged Robin must be biennial. A pity but still lovely meadow. I am hoping they will not build on it.

The 16 April 2022 Happy Caturday theme is Springtime/Spring Cats. Somehow with the snow and cold rain ... and busy work schedule... and flirting with freezing temps, I did not get much springtime cheer from Tikki. Still I decided to try to share the new attempt rather than one of my past joy of springtime pix. Hurray for periwinkle (vinca) and tulips.

Just a couple of days ago we received a blast of snow that powdered all of the trees making for a springtime delight for the eyes to behold. So very beautiful indeed.

Pushing on that trigger is like pulling magic into my very soul...Darrell.

Have a safe and springtime delightful day dear Flickr friends !

la luna ...all'alba

(vertical frame)

Just wrapped up a very week-long trip to Appalachia, where we were blessed with a rare streak of sunny days in April. The one day we had clouds wasn't so bad either, as we ended up following this northbound up the H-line at a time of day where all sunny shots would have been grossly backlit. Here, NS 14Z passes the CPL bracket at Lithia on its way north out of Roanoke. NS has been actively replacing the CPLs on the H-Line, and it seems every couple of months both ends of a siding get cut over. If 2023 isn't the last year of these signals, it'll likely be the second to last - make your travel plans now!
