Whoops, I almost forgot to add a photo!! It is bedtime now so I will have to catch you all tomorrow. Even though it is the 9th here in Australia (12.30 am), this is my photo for the 8th May.
Spring brings new life to everything but not nearly as evident as in the early spring blooming trees like this one. Taken in my backyard with a cloudless blue sky above...nearly perfect nature at its absolute best!!

More spring flowers that my wife has planted in the half whiskey barrels that we have on the patio behind the house. Again, I'm not much of a flower expert so I don't know what these are but she did a great job selecting and transplanting them to where they are now.

Another cooler but sunny day here in Sydney today, so I wandered around to my neighbour's garden to see if there was any action. There were so many bees (and even a Skipper butterfly) hanging around the Bird of Paradise bush.
Hope everyone has been enjoying the weekend! This is one of my Hipsta shots I took this weekend...
Anywho...will be back in a bit to visit streams... =)
I had loaded this up a different way and for some reason the comment section wasn't available...should be fixed now...
I have been busy today preparing for our trip away. We are heading up to Hervey Bay tomorrow morning to see my son and his family and other friends on the way. We will be away for around two weeks and we are taking a laptop with us but not sure if we will have wireless access.
Sorry for adding so many photos, but I had the most amazing day today. A friend and I went whale watching off the heads of Sydney Harbour. We were supposed to go last week but I got a tummy bug and today it was supposed to be very windy which did make it a bit choppy but not too bad. We saw three pods of whales and a couple of them came quite close to the boat. I was hoping to see them jump out of the water, but I did manage to get a couple of tail slaps.

This was taken back in January - I haven't seen many dragonflies around this Summer.
When the moon hits you eye like a big pizza pie
That's amore
When the world seems to shine like you've had too much wine
That's amore
Bells will ring ting-a-ling-a-ling, ting-a-ling-a-ling
And you'll sing "Vita bella"
Hearts will play tippy-tippy-tay, tippy-tippy-tay
Like a gay tarantella
When the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool
That's amore
When you dance down the street with a cloud at your feet
You're in love
When you walk down in a dream but you know you're not
Dreaming signore
Scuzza me, but you see, back in old Napoli
That's amore

I always loved the part about pasta fazool.
in front of my kitchenwindow a new friend say`s to me:
spring is coming !!

Sunflowers (aka Balsamroot) in full bloom in the Columbia River Gorge, Oregon as storm skies coming rolling through. This is an old image that I must have passed over because it was more time than I wanted to invest for a high ISO multi-shot miss-aligned scene. Newer tools and better skills make for a cleaner image than I would have had many years ago.
As usual in this area the wind comes flying through and the only way to normally slow the flowers down for them to be sharp is faster shutter speed (i.e. higher ISO). Yet who would enjoy this if it was easy all the time, that wouldn't be any fun!
First Bee macro of 2013. It was a beautiful day today. Lots of sunshine and a temperature of 17º C. It is so nice to see all those insects again.

I thought I was just going to be making a video of this pair of Eagles talking to one another... Little did I know!!
I love that they can't make eye contact at the end, just like awkward teenagers! haha!

Wish you guys a wonderful bokehlicious evening! :)

After a wet, miserable day yesterday, today is lovely and sunny, so I decided to take the opportunity to go out into my garden and stalk some bees. They are really enjoying all the new blooms on the Camellia bush during the cold Winter days.
Yesterday when I was wandering around my neighbour's garden, I spotted this unusual spider. I took a few photos, but couldn't seem to get it all in focus due to camera shake. I went home to get my monopod, but when I went back the spider was gone and hasn't been back since (maybe eaten by a bird?), so these shots will have to do. The pink and green background is the Azalea bush which was behind the web.

I will be away for a few days - still clearing out Peter's Dad's house (what a job). Will catch up on Wednesday when I get back.
