A week of being in Western Mass’s colorless early spring, had us seeking some color on our return west. Antelope Valley Poppy Reserver did not disappoint
I have rented the Canon 100-400mm L Lens for 3 days to give it a trial before our trip to Machu Picchu and Galapagos. So I took it out for a spin around the neighborhood hoping to find some birds or critters to photograph. I could hear many birds chirping and squirrels chattering, but they were all hiding deep in the trees. I have exactly one iris blooming at the moment, and it's perfect. I like the focus on just the white petal.
Spring time brings about flowers of all kinds...these Flowering Crab Apple trees in front of the Cookeville, TN Train Depot produce large 'clumps' mixed with beautiful pink blossoms and leaves. Perfect photo...and even better when set against an awesome blue sky with just enough bright sunshine.

Here is a classic example of what I call unexpected beauty. Is this a tranquil lake in rural New Hampshire? No. It is an industrial park retention pond in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Surprised? So am I! I am continually amazed at the remarkable beauty all around us everyday.
The title, of course, is from the classic 1981 film which was shot in rural New Hampshire. Check it out if you've never seen it. One of the all time greats.
WEEEEEEEEEEPA!!!!!!!
