searching for signs of spring arriving

The view from our porch.

It is March 15, 2017, 5 days before the Vernal Equinox, the start of Spring. Winter storm Stella hit at 2:30 yesterday. It is 10:00 AM, the next morning. The snowfall finally dropped off, but still continued, overnight. I managed to shovel out the car and clear the driveway. The snowplow just went through, as you can see. I braved the weather. The normally 15 minute drive to work took an hour.

The Good Samaritan, doing my next-door neighbor's driveway.

It is March 14, 2017, 6 days before the Vernal Equinox, the start of Spring. Winter storm Stella hit at 2:30 this morning. It is 9:15 AM. The snow is already 2 feet (61cm) deep, The snow plow came through at 7:30; not that you can tell.

The neighbor across the street broke out his snow blower to do his driveway because it's supposed to keep snowing until tomorrow afternoon and, by that time, it will be too deep for the blower to handle. He then came down and did mine. Good neighbors are to be treasured.

Early spring colouring the gardens.

I love to think of nature as an unlimited broadcasting station, through which God speaks to us every hour, if we will only tune in. ~George Washington Carver

We have had a very cold spring here in Korea. There has been no sign of any blossoms or flowers yet. I was thrilled yesterday when I found a cherry blossom tree in bloom, and several magnolia trees. They were located in a very sunny protected area. I had so much fun!

I seem to be turning into a peeping Tom! (too good to miss, though)

I ordered some new sandals earlier this week from one of my favorite shoe websites. They arrived a couple of days ago, but since it's March and Chicago I haven't really been able to wear them yet. I did wear the other more casual pair out to run some errands, and then came home and tried on the new denim skirt I got with these sandals. They are so comfy, I can't wait to be able to wear them out. The weather people are predicting cold temperatures and snow this weekend. I really hope they are wrong. We've been enjoying 65 degree weather yesterday and today, and I really don't want the temps to go back to the 30's.

My next-door neighbor, undeterred by a little snow.
