This March Lenten Rose aka Hellebore reminds us that spring is almost here, so it's not so hard to get out of bed an hour early and lose an hour today. I actually hate spring forward day, but I'm trying to do an attitude adjustment :)

"You're only here for a short visit. Don't hurry. Don't worry. And be sure to smell the flowers along the way." ~ Walter C. Hagen

It's that time of the year again after the clocks are turned forward an hour for spring adjustment, here in US. For me, spring begins today, especially when the temperatures start to rise and the sun shines a lot. Yesterday we had our last snowfall (just a little) and I can't wait to do my photowalks in the parks and forests.

This was the home for the past year of a little wren. Do they nest again in the same place?

Thank you very much for your kind comments and visit, much appreciated! 🌸

Patiently awaiting the arrival of Spring.

Spring it on!

The meaning of tulips is generally perfect love

Tulips are by far my most favourite flower.

I am fascinated by their beauty from the moment they start to bloom and open, to way beyond their prime. As these

flowers mature, the colours intensify and they start taking on delightful new formations...

Spring leans forward!

Happy Sliders Sunday!

could it be, would it be, let it be spring?

I could have taught my cats guitar

Bought sprinkles at a store

Memorized 42 numbers of Pi

Sewed up all of my sock holes

Thought about making a vegan tiramisu but then deciding not to make it.

Read a 137 page novel or novella

Jumped rope while singing with only two short breaks.

Hiked a small percentage up Mount Everest

Written three poems while sipping Japanese whiskey.

Biked 15 miles along the lake if there wasn't a bad headwind.

Planted 27 crocuses that would never bloom.

Ridden a roller coaster without a line at least 49 times.

Spun around in a circle exactly to the correct speed of a favorite vinyl record (Right, now, I'm listening to The Kinks album Something Else.)

Climbed a tree and gotten stuck like a big old tabby cat.

Insisted I did not need help getting out of the tree while strangers gathered around and stared.

Eaten an entire bowl of ramen while reading a Kenzaburō Ōe novel in the bathtub.

Wondered what would happen if the bubbles in my bathtub never popped and stayed like that as some cool postmodern art project.

Pictured coral reefs dancing and started to draw one.

There were a lot of things I could have done with that hour but in the end I decided that I had to come to terms with reality and just let it go.

Don't forget to set your alarm for 2 AM Sunday to move your clocks ahead 1 hour. You're welcome.

...will turn a little faster on Saturday night, so you'll need to wind your clocks forward by one hour at 1am when British Summer Time begins!

I tend to use my cell phone for the time these days and rarely use a watch. The only time I wear a watch is when I travel to England (takes me through three time zones). Our clocks moved forward 1 hour on March 11 here in USA and the clocks moved forward 1 hour March 25 in the UK. Today I remembered to change my watch.

For those who participate in Daylight Saving Time, tonight's the night to Spring Forward.

Daylight saving time began today at 2 a.m. and I woke up this morning wishing I could get that one hour of sleep back. 😉

I hope you are enjoying your Sunday, friends. Thanks so much for your visit!

and if I ever find out what it is, I'll be elated...

I have this memory from childhood of my Dad referring to me as Joe Summertime. But for the life of me I can't recall the context. Maybe it stemmed from not wearing a coat in the winter which might lead to a comment like "who do you think you are, Joe Summertime?" or something like that. Ah gotta love the Dadisms. Oddly this thought flashed back as I stood in the local cemetery at sundown last evening. I wanted to experience the final sunset of Eastern Standard Time in person rather than gazing out of a window. The clear sky was a real bonus. Perhaps it was the time of day, but the cemetery seemed highly charged. One of those times when your senses are keenly aware of the surroundings. The crisp cold air definitely helped sharpen the mind. As the sun dipped below the horizon I was left standing in this eerie half light, more light in the sky than on the ground, especially with this knoll standing between me and what was left of the sun. I loved seeing the disruption of the normal proportion of light. It presented a wonderful visual boundary line and it sent a little chill down my spine. Anyway, getting back to Joe Summertime, I realized how well adapted I am to summer and extended daylight. The switch to standard time in the fall always knocks me for a loop. Takes weeks to adjust and even then I hate it. It feels like an illness that can only be cured by the return to daylight saving time. The clocks advanced one hour overnight and already, just hours later, I feel full acclimated to the change. Things just feel normal again. And it gets better by the day from now through nearly July as we continue to gain daylight. So maybe Dad had it right about me. Guess I am Joe Summertime.

All weekend I’ve been listening to people worry, fret and complain about the change to daylight savings time. Everyone has seemed so aggravated with it, that it is very difficult for me to confess that I’m the numero uno biggest fan of DST. I love lighted evenings. Dusk may very well be my favorite time of day, but during standard time, it’s come and gone by the time I’m home to sit and absorb it. As much as I love it though, springing forward really puts a wrench in my clockworks. The first half of the day felt no different really, except that my Sunday afternoon nap need came as scheduled, which was an hour before the clock allowed. Refusing to fight it, I dozed off and revived. This dozing set me to rights so that my rejuvenated state felt that it was an hour earlier than the clock said it was and now it’s 2:00am, and I’m wide awake.

But don’t hear what I’m not saying. I am not complaining, just accounting for the day of adjustment. This adjustment has given me time to ponder on what a wonderful day it has been. Though crisp and cool, the sky was deep blue and the sun was bright, and the air was clear. Spring was buzzing and trying to wake up from being temporarily knocked out by last night’s freezing temps. Azaleas began bursting, daffodils trumpeted, and the tulips pushed higher up out of the dirt.

After an exceptional church service this morning, we stayed downtown, dined on Tex-Mex, and made our way over to St. Joseph’s to hear an afternoon performance of John Rutter’s Requiem. It was especially wonderful, after hearing the closing, “lux aeterna,” to walk out into an extra hour of light and warmth.

The icing on the day came in the form of the first appearance of the Paschal Moon as a tiny slivery silvery infant setting in the dusky west with the sun.

The entire day was tailor-made from the clock change, to the lectionary readings, to the choral afternoon, to the restless contemplation of tonight.

Good morning from Toronto, Canada. Did you change your clock today?

Happy Sunday and week ahead.

Our clocks went forward 1hr to British Summer Time yesterday. This was taken at "my local" at 8pm last night, which means we've got about 4 hours more light in the evening than we had a couple of months ago. The last couple of weeks have been beautiful in Scotland, its great to have the light back.

Spring has arrived, here in the UK, and the clocks go forward 1 hour this weekend...

5:00AM wake up and it's still dark out, ugh. Even the flowers are confused. This new daylight savings time will take a few days to get used to! Have a great week.

Spring forward this weekend

I spent the evening photographing this gorgeous girl in the freezing cold. A lot has happened this year that I never expected to happen. My life is going through a lot of changes but I'm learning to accept it all, be happy, and just keep moving forward. I'll be starting a new series soon that I'll talk about in one of my next few uploads. I hope everyone is doing well. ♥

Here it is, it has bloomed and I am oh so happy!!

Taken at The Clock Shop of Vienna in Vienna, VA.

I think it would be pretty cool if we could "spring forward" on a Wednesday at 3:00pm instead of on a weekend night.

Eh, maybe next year.

Cheers to later sunsets and warmer light!

And to springing forward...even if it is on a weekend.

Clocks went forward an hour at 1am on Sunday 29th March 2015 in the UK, changing from Greenwich Mean Time to British Summer Time!

Time once again to roll the clocks forward. People trend to grumble about losing an hour of sleep, but my body seems to adapt quickly to the spring clock change. I awaken earlier and feel more energized during the day. Everything seems to happen at a faster pace; the work day seems to fly by. Best of all is it generally marks the end of driving home in the dark. I figure my odds of striking a deer decrease dramatically. The time change always brings renewed calls for leaving the clocks set on a single time zone all year long. The problem with that is people want to lock in on standard time. Not me; I love having light in the sky until nearly 10 pm in the summer. I say if we do go to a single time zone, let's make it daylight saving time!
