Shot taken during a short holiday I have had at the end of April (2018), in La Verna, placed in Tuscany, Italy.
An amazing place I suggest to visit, in particular perfect for being a bit alone, for meditation, silence, for praying and feeling in peace.
That's what these Columbine reminds me of. This variety was in the yard when we bought the house. It gets to be almost 3' tall and is lovely!

White Iris in my garden. I don't know what variety this is- it was a hand-me-down from my mother's garden.
So at last there was an egg in the nest. The female will lay one per day until all are laid and then sit the nest. I can't wait to have more Bluebirds in the yard!!

Today was a lovely, sunny and spring like day. I was out in the yard filling the birdbaths and checking out what's in bloom. The Hellebores never disappoint and are the earliest bloomers though I also have a Primrose and some Jonquils in bloom! Spring is just around the corner!
I don't have much time for Flickr at the moment. My husband's surgery went well but he's using a walker and the leg has to be kept straight for 6 weeks! He can't drive and I have to assist him with dressing and getting up and down from chairs and bed. Our daughter and son-in-law came the day of the surgery and she stayed for 3 days which was so helpful! His surgery followup is this week and the sutures will come out. I'll be in and out and around when I can be- maybe just faving your pictures!

I was working in the yard this morning when this rather large, lumbering opossum walked out of the woods and started across our lawn. I grabbed the camera and got this shot. It's a female with young in her marsupium. View large to see at least two little tails!!
From Wikipedia:
Opossums do possess a placenta,[19] but it is short-lived, simple in structure, and, unlike that of placental mammals, is not fully functional.[20] The young are therefore born at a very early stage, although the gestation period is similar to many other small marsupials, at only 12 to 14 days.[21] Once born, the offspring must find their way into the marsupium to hold on to and nurse from a teat. Baby opossums, like their Australian cousins, are called joeys.[22] Female opossums often give birth to very large numbers of young, most of which fail to attach to a teat, although as many as thirteen young can attach,[23] and therefore survive, depending on species. The young are weaned between 70 and 125 days, when they detach from the teat and leave the pouch. The opossum lifespan is unusually short for a mammal of its size, usually only one to two years in the wild and as long as 4+ years in captivity.
Back to a day when it wasn't raining...trying to remember what sunshine looks like. I have no idea what variety this is- it was a Home Depot end of season clearance but it's a winner!

Today it is in the 50sF and sunny so I have been out in the yard doing spring cleanup. This is Helleborus 'HGC Jacob' blooming in my garden. It was a gift from a friend and reminds me of her!

An excellent 14 year old single malt! Spicy and fruity on the tongue, full body on the palate, nice slow residual follow through.
Our 3 double flowering cherry trees are in bloom and they are lovely! Last night we had a huge thunder and rain storm after a beautiful, sunny spring day. Hopefully, the cherry blossoms will be okay.
I suppose spring is here though we have snow predicted for tomorrow after it was nearly 70F yesterday!
The primroses are very hardy, dependable plants and will survive any snow that may fall.

We have had days of rain and severe thunderstorms. Up to 5 more inches of rain expected in the next two days. Lots of local roads are flooded and closed. We are on high ground but lots of the mulch has washed out of our flowers beds onto the lawn. The rain has to stop before I can deal with that!
...to bloom in our yard every year. There are 3 pink and one white flowering cherry trees that were here when we bought the house. The white one is always the first to bloom in spring.

over yet another mass shooting. This one occurred about 3 miles from our house near our gym and the shopping mall. Our politicians need to get off their duffs and do something about mental health and guns!!!
A question we can ask about so many things! Just about a week ago, we hiked along a trail that is at the headwaters of Broad Creek we often boat on. So, why throw old tires in the creek??? We saw quite a few including huge tractor tires!
Now why did storm "Riley" cut our power from Friday until this morning...
And why, did my husband decide to go to work early yesterday in the dark and wind up missing a step in the garage and falling on the concrete floor and completely tearing his quadricep tendon which now requires surgery and a 4 month recovery???
Why? It's all random and we have been inconvenienced for sure, but...we still live better than 90% of the people on earth so we will manage this!
We had half a day of sunshine yesterday and I was able to get some things done in the yard before it rained again! Have sun today but more rain is predicted tonight...

At Glenstone Museum, there are three small houses by British artist Andy Goldsworthy. The stone work is amazing. We only saw the interior of this one. It was lit only by the window above the door and the interior walls and floor are coated with natural clay that has cracked and changed color over time. It's about the play of light on the natural materials.
