Nice to see kids enjoying nature instead of watching TV! explored @271 April 24

Despite another day of rain and wind, these tulips thought it was spring yesterday.

I basically stopped posting photographs of my photojournalism work on this page last summer, but since this is essentially a landscape shot, I'm going to include it here. I made this photograph last Friday in Wilsonville, Ore., in the heart of the little city for an article on the city's Tree City USA designation. These rain-splashed Trilliums called out to be included in the scene, so I complied without resisting. I think it makes for a much more interesting shot, and I'm hoping my readers/viewers do as well, both here and in print next week!

There's a row of rose bushes growing along the fence near our dog run. Most of the year they look pretty ragged. Several times a year Marg and I debate pulling them out and getting rid of them. Then along comes spring, and for six weeks or so, they produce the most beautiful roses. Marg uses them for cut-flower arrangements, the bees go wild over them, and I snap pictures. I suspect they're not going anywhere, although I'm sure by late summer we'll once again be debating the issue.

...from the wonderful place we stayed last night, called BesteBakken in Hafslo/Luster (had a really nice and large room in a new barn).

Superb hospitality, comfort, charm and delicious local home made food. Do you spot their alpacas to the right? I will show you charming photos of them later on ツ

Is officially here. Even though it hit 80+ here today, I am NOT complaining.

I took about 40 pics of this tree in our front yard, these flowers just kicked in today. Fair warning, I'm posting...maybe all of 'em. B/c I love.

A sure sign spring is here is the appearance of azaleas under our crepe myrtle. This pair is the first to bloom this year, and I couldn't be happier to see them!

Wes Skiles Peacock Spring State Park, southwest of Live Oak, FL, is most widely known for its vast collection of interconnected underwater caves which attract cave divers worldwide to this obscure Florida gem. Apart from being an underwater destination, its a location of supreme and tranquil beauty that maintains an almost prehistoric character in the colder months. While swimming is allowed, there are springs (nearby too) which provide a better swimming experience. This spring is all about stepping back in time and seeing something truly wild.
