Spring is hard to find today after 4 inches of the white stuff overnight.
Apricot blossoms don't look so good - maybe the snow will insulate them?
Good things about spring snow - no shoveling, it melts in a couple of days and give the ground a much needed soaking.
Spring arrives in Crane Park, Middlesex, and here’s the first sign – a riotous blackthorn in all its blossoming glory.
The straight side shoots of the blackthorn develop into sharp thorns and the bush will produce sloes in autumn. The tree can often last up to 100 years and was once used for making walking sticks and shillelaghs.
The blossom is a vital source of pollen for early bees; birds like the dense branch network for nesting and butterflies use the bush later in spring – so it’s an all-round giver!

I warned everyone, now here is a long series on the spring snowflakes.
Found them along the edges of the bog called Langer Filz, along the creek called Lindenbach. In the nature reserve, called Murnauer Moos, Bavaria, Germany.

The spring snowflakes are becoming rare in the wild in Germany and in many countries due to the fact that their preferred living place: wetlands, mires, swamps, floodplain forests are disappearing.
In Germany it is a strongly protected plant, already on the Red List of endangered plants.
Another factor that "helped" the plant to get onto the Red List is the collectors who had been digging them up for sale or for their own gardens.
Typical of the plant is that 1-2 flowers can be seen per stem and the white petals have an orange, yellow or green spot.
The entire plant is poisonous.
More Aquilegia, this time my white one which last year had tinges on green on the edges of its petals.
Today is the start of British Summer Time, so predictably it's grey and very windy. These were taken a few weeks back, when it was still spring. My green Hellebores are still flowering away and this one is producing seed heads. I think they're a little confused, though, as the leaves are left over from last year as they never died down.

More of my Magnolia, which is very photogenic when the sun shines and if its petals have not been battered by the elements. This year it seems pretty much perfect.
It's the super springy thing again.
Here are more of my spring pics on flickr
Taken on Himatangi beach, NZ.

This is what Spring looks like in Missoula...well I guess it's not quite Spring yet but it sounds good! lol.. Hope everyone is doing well...not too much going on here...work..work...work!! :P Have a great week ahead!! :)
The first flowers to appear in Spring, and bees love them.
Thank you for your visits comments and favs! :-)
Spring is strong and virtuous,
Broad-sowing, cheerful, plenteous,
Quickening underneath the mould
Grains beyond the price of gold.
So deep and large her bounties are,
That one broad, long midsummer day
Shall to the planet overpay
The ravage of a year of war.
- Ralph Waldo Emerson
I went to the Botanical Garden to capture some Spring! This one is for everybody who needs some Spring colors but especially for my friend Kim's Pics :) You should check out her photostream! But I hope everybody is going to like it.
Happy bokeh Wednesday!!
This lighting came out strange in this shot but i like it anyway! Hazy light and spring colors. Finally some warmth.
Closer shots of some of the Magnolia blooms in the garden. Hard to get any closer unless I climb inside...
September 1 is considered springday, 3 weeks ahead of the earth reaching its spring position with respect to the sun.
The trees also cannot wait for that and start to open their buds and roll out their leaves.
Continuing with the bright colors... is it spring, or is it fall? This resembles an autumn shot, but was actually taken last week. The colors were brilliant, but it was an unexpected set of hues.
~ spring colours are just gorgeous, no? they make even a mundane
suburban street look amazing! (well, passable, anyway)
Spring is here!!! Well, almost.....
Another rainy day means another opportunity to practice with the droplet refraction :-) I refused to cut the daffodils from the garden, so ended up bringing in the entire planting pot (very large one!!) indoors, as it was raining too heavy outdoors to work there. Having the daffodils 'fixed' in the pot made lining up the flower with the droplets a lot more of a challenge than if I had a cut flower, but ultimately meant that the daffodil lived to see another day and cheer us on, reminding us it's nearly spring :-)
