Lately I have been quite busy and had pretty much no time to spend here on Flickr. So I apologize if I haven't been around commenting on your photos. That will change soon hopefully. The good thing is that the weather permitted for a couple of excursions over the past weekends so I got to take a few shots. However, no time means no time to go through and edit them so now that I am slowly coming back to Flickr I am posting a photo from my archive that has already been edited. Quite obvious that this is spring picture and not summer, the grass is very green. I took this one a couple of months ago in a place in New Hampshire that I have never been before: New Castle. New Castle is a small island right at the border of New Hampshire and Maine. Most of the water around it comes from Piscataqua river as it sits right at the edge of its delta. Quite a picturesque place which I will visit again at the right season (Fall). I hope everyone is doing well.

Cherry blossoms grace the DC and Virginia area. With nature blooming, with amateur photographer camera in hand; seasonal clichés are bound to proliferate. This on is my Spring cliché.

The digital impressionist techniques were several with layering and color saturations for give the impressionist look of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

These are bare trees reflected in water with Ossier Dogwood branches in the foreground. I used a shallow DOF to get this effect as well as a bit of editing to soften the red branches to get this painterly abstract look. This look sums up the white, almost colorless spring we are having so far.
I bought some spring tulips for the house but have not had a chance to photograph them. The robins are all back and the birds are chirping. It is spring!
On a side note - The new year was supposed to get less busy with more time for fun and photography. But it has instead gotten very busy again.
And this weekend I am starting the process of migrating my information and more to a new desktop. I have a laptop, but it is only used for minor things. The desktop is where everything happens for work and photography. Over the last week I hit some back up snags. I am hoping that all will go alright. That will mean that I am not online and around for the next week or so as I complete the process.
It starts tomorrow morning.....wish me luck!

I know I said I was getting out of my coat, scarf, hat and gloves but it was so cold on this day in order to be outside I had to bundle up again...it felt like winter not spring!! HSS :))

Spiraea thunbergi (Thunberg spiraea, ‘Yuki-yanagi’ in Japanese) is a flowering shrub in the rose family, native to Japan and eastern China. Its tiny flowers look like snow flakes in the spring garden. Taken on a walk.

Spring came to Japan.
Cherry blossoms begin to bloom in various parts of Japan.
Cherry blossoms began to bloom also in Tokyo.
The flower will open to a lot of kinds of cherry blossoms in April in March.
And, the Japanese feels the thing that spring comes by enjoying cherry blossoms by love.
For Macro Monday theme 'Glaze'. A small portion of a Russian glazed/lacquered box. It's titled 'Spring' and the artist is Smirnova. The box is made of papier-mâché-mache. Several layers of pasted cardboard are boiled in linseed oil and repeatedly dried in a hot oven. This is as hard as wood, light and waterproof. It can be sawed, polished, primed and lacquered. It was made in the Russian school/village Fedoskino, which is the oldest Russian centre for lacquered miniature paintings. www.artrusse.ca/fedoskino_en.htm
