Lovely splash effect on the breakwater as the waves roll in.

2017 Atlantic Storm 'Brian' kicks up some spectacular water effects as gale force winds coincide with a spring tide, 21st Oct 2017.

The beach huts at Whitby taken earlier last year with the late afternoon sun catching on the sea spray.

The rough North Sea created lots of drifting spray in the atmosphere, which is what gives this image it's ethereal feel. The use of a long exposure also adds to this softness. The lack of a golden sunset meant that I had to work with whatever light I was presented, so I concentrated on composing an image of Embleton Dunes within their environment. This is not the first thing that photographers might concentrate on at this location, as immediately behind me is Dunstanburgh Castle.

Happy Bokeh Wednesday ;o)

Christmas shopping, and I found some small branches sprayed with sparkling paint .... and they still glitter in the sunshine. Here they give a bokeh background to a delicate golden yellow tulip.

I'm collecting an album of Simple Pleasures to celebrate the small, ordinary things that I take for granted - and might not think to photograph. These may not be expensive or obvious, but they help to add sparkle to the long grey days before Spring finally arrives ;o)

I LOVE this - no idea where I took it in London, but (for me) it just works so well - I took a photo of some stacked car tyres a year back and this (again, for me!) has the same vibe.

For Macro Mondays 'Mediums' theme - this is the nozzle of a spray can I used for a project a little while ago. It's a great medium and there is certainly a skill to using spray cans - I wish I was better at it. Maybe it's time to do some more practice.

Back in April 21 I had some early morning fun at Seaham Harbour with the fuji XH1 and xf70-300mm, a mighty fine combination.

When I went to see it last month, it was graffitied with a spray. I don't feel like shooting again.

Back to Scotland again for this shot and an absolute stonker of a shoot lightwise at Elgol.

I've shot this spot a good few times now and had decent good result (all different), after having worked my way along this part of the coast this evening shooting different places, I inevitably ended up at this place (which I absolutely love) as if the light does kick off at sunset the rock walls light up here like nowhere else on this stretch, after numerous passing squalls, hailstorms, and rainstorms, the low light broke through and provided a really good period of side light onto the Cuillin, and also onto the foreground rocks.

This shot was a combination of waiting for that to happen and keep adjusting the camera settings according to the changing light to get the exact exposure time I wanted and then catch the right wave while hopefully the other 2 components came together at the same time.

Spray roses are cheap and seem like a good value, but they're very simple and have little fragrance. This is a 50-frame focus stack.

I took this yesterday after work. I have seen the reflection in the river at this location only a handful of times. Shortly after I took this, the heavens above opened up with a torrential down pour of rain haha.
