The warm evening sun and the play of shadows from the tree branches against 't Kuipke's brick wall captured my attention as I strolled through Citadel Park late last week. In my view, it creates an intriguing composition. 't Kuipke is an indoor velodrome with a storied history in track cycling events. It's particularly renowned for hosting the Six Days of Ghent (Zesdaagse van Gent), a prestigious track cycling competition that draws top cyclists from around the world – Citadelpark, Ghent, Belgium

Shelsley Walsh, Worcestershire, England, United Kingdom, on Saturday 3rd June 2023.
About the photograph.
I used Adobe Photoshop to create a collage of those three white cars going up the track at Shelsley Walsh.
This area is approximately the halfway point of the uphill climb, and includes two tight turns, a left hand turn followed by a right hand turn. It is at that point, that the cars often slow down slightly, which would offer a best chance for a photo.
The car seen at the top (file 0931) is a Porsche 911 Carrera, and is driven by Jonathan Williamson of Taunton.
The middle one (0968) shows a Radical SR-1 with 1340cc engine, driven by David Bickley from Atherstone.
The bottom one (1022) is a Lotus 2-Eleven with a 1800cc engine, driven by Keith Bristow of Henley-in-Arden.
About Shelsley Walsh.
Shelsley Walsh is a motorsports speed hill climb track in Worcestershire, and organised by the Midland Automobile Club (MAC).
It is one of the oldest motorsports event, having started in 1905, and held events every year, except for the two World Wars.
It is also a notably steep course by today’s hill climb standards, rising 328ft / 100m over its 1000 yards / 914 metres length.
The track and course do not belong to MAC, it is leased from the local landowner. The original lease ran for 99 years, and in 2005, a new lease was signed for the next 99 years.

Shelsley Walsh, Worcestershire, England, United Kingdom, on Saturday 3rd June 2023.
About the photograph.
This is the driver Steve Nunney from Amersham, speeding in his red Ferrari 348TS uphill against the clock, during the Best of British event held at the Shelsley Walsh Speed Hill Climb meet.
Note the registration number plate displaying the logo of the car tyre manufacturer Pirelli instead of the usual proper UK number.
I can’t be sure if this car is not being used on the road, and transported by trailer to and from events, or if the number is covered up during race days.
Here, he is seen coming around the bend, on the way uphill.

About the photograph.
This is Briony Serrell from Worcester in his Elva Mk 7 racing car, bearing the number 127.
He is seen waiting in the cockpit, for his turn to move forwards to the starting line, and I took an opportunity to grab a close up photo.
Elva is a sports and racing car manufacturing company, that was founded in 1955 by Frank G. Nichols, and the factory was based in Sussex, England. The Mk 7 was manufactured around between 1961 to 1964.
The shot was in colour, I converted it into black and white while in Adobe Lightroom, and attempted to adjust the settings hoping for an old photo feel.
