All the photographs are my own, taken during my first overseas trip in 1994, though they weren't polaroids.

PS - Never underestimate the joy of drawing a bloody cutlass.

PPS - Here is a link to the fun pirate assets (free) by Chris Spooner, which I used for the hat, cunning pistol, cutlass, compass rose, & scroll banner. I drew my own eye patch but it was based on Chris's.

If I hadn't used these wonderful assets my drawing still wouldn't be finished, would look super rotten, & I'd have pulled all my hair out & collapsed into a puddle of rage & exhaustion on the floor.

PPPS: That cool grungy font I rastered & mesh-transformed is called "Poison Hope" --yay! Going to try to use it forever just because of the name.

Tried out a new effect I did not know so far where you can generate a painting effect to a photo. Works nice especially at large size.

Saw this awesome tree on the edge of the pond, so we decided to pose in front of it. We both got ticks during the shoot but it was worth it. Shot in Bel Air, Maryland. Learned the vintage photo effect here: blog.spoongraphics.co.uk/tutorials/how-to-give-your-photo...

Playing around with typography and design in Photoshop. I learned this from a tutorial online: www.blog.spoongraphics.co.uk/tutorials/create-a-trendy-ty... I added my own touches too.

This is how all the pro web developers do it...

Came a cross a illustrator tutorial online, I've wanted to learn for a while and I thought this looked like something quite basic and a good place to start.

If you want to the check out the tutorial here is the link:

Right so here's tutorial 2, switching to illustrator a pretty straight forward vector icon of an iMac. which I'm sure I can use for mockups and displays for work!

Used this tutorial:

Really good tutorial, didn't like the base though so I have modified it to match the newer models with a base with a much lower profile.

My roommate is leading the Philosophy Conference, and he asked me to make the design.

I wanted to make a design that focused on the fact that philosophy was still relevant and modern.

This is what I came up with.

(for those not in the know: that is Nietzsche, and the words are a play on his infamous and misused quote "God is Dead")

The obligatory goony face - This one's actually one of my favs!

This is for a sermon series beginning in January. It is a seven week series and the topics(listed in the black) are: prayer, finance, the enemy, attitude, marriage, following, and serving. With such a broad range of topics I tried to keep it simple and just used typography. I've been wanting to do something like this for a while and finally got the chance. This is still in draft form so please let me know what you think.

Inspiration. Many different posts in the lab and a photoshop tutorial from spoon graphics: www.blog.spoongraphics.co.uk/tutorials/create-a-trendy-ty...

my version of the "Vintage Style Zombie Movie Poster" tutorial written by Chris Spooner. Check out his awesome website at www.blog.spoongraphics.co.uk/

Another one from the beach shoot. :] I'm saving my favorite ones and the whimsical ones for last.

If you wanna try the editing I did on this, it can be found here. But be warned. It took me about 5 or 6 attempts to get it just right. I think it also depends on which photoshop you use because some of the steps it told you to use didn't exist with my photoshop. But it does look really cool, so it's worth a try. Oh, also! Another tip. Where it tells you to put the white spot, make sure you set that as another layer as well. That made it work for me. Enjoy!

You can view in the lightbox if you wanna. :] Press L or click on the image.

drawn with help tutorial from spoongraphics.co.uk with a few of my own modifications. I added my own background in photoshop.

This first illustration, which is called "Hairy Hearts," has allowed me to practice a lot with Adobe Illustrator for the creation of my "little heart of plush." I wanted to get a very realistic effect and in this I was helped by a tutorial read some time ago (link here).
