There is an important shipyard in Split. Other sources of income are tourism, fishery, paper mills, cement works and some chemical industry.
Split is one of Croatia's bigger cities and has an interesting old town. We were able to see the majority of the sights in three quarters of a day's relaxed exploration and spent the remaining quarter drinking excellent Croatian coffee and beer.

Docking in the port of Split, Croatia. This is the Pilot boat which guided us in.
A pilot boat is a type of boat used to transport maritime pilots between land and the inbound or outbound ships that they are piloting. Modern pilot boats can be from 7 metres to over 25 metres in length, built to withstand heavy seas and bumping against 100,000 ton tanker ships. They are high-powered and hence both very quick and durable purpose-built boats.
The natural position and size of the port of Split enabled its rapid development and it became a port of special – international economic interest for the Republic of Croatia.
Also, thanks to its strategic position in the Mediterranean (between Venice and the Aegean port), the port of Split is one of the most important ports of call for cruises in the Adriatic, and its long history and numerous sights attract thousands of tourists.
I was hoping, strangely, some red bean paste in the center. I know it's a muffin, but I just somehow wanted it in there...
It tasted fine: just sweet, tender with some structure. My tiff is that it doesn't have enough green tea flavor, I only tasted hints of vanilla but no green tea. The red beans didn't really contribute much to this muffin either. I guess my hopes were too high for this muffin.
