This boy was wearing the only example of the traditional split pants that kids wear. Sadly you can't see the split from here. For the record it was COLD out. He was wearing a down jacket and the pants were quilted and yet...split right down the middle so the draft must have been wicked.

Every year to commemorate the loss of the Edmund Fitzgerald, the big clamshell Fresnel lens at Split Rock, MN is lighted on the evening of November 10, the date the ship sank. I was there for the event in 2006. It was dark, cold, and clear.
