“Ever wondered how to make your oil paintings zing? Do you want to rescue an unloved oil painting? Exploiting traditional techniques is the answer and we’re here to share with you the secrets of how to get the most out of your painting experience.
In this workshop we share the art of traditional oil painting techniques, as used in my own Fine Art oil paintings – techniques that will transform and enhance your artworks.
Welcome to our studio in the Highlands of Scotland, from where we bring you this complete, start-to-finish, work-along Workshop in Oils – in which I guide you step-by-step through the art of glazing, tinting, working with fluid colour mixes and detailing, plus many more handy hints and tips.
You will learn how to exploit glazes to enrich, enliven and add excitement to your subject. Watch how tints are manipulated to bring depth into the composition, giving it that three-dimensional quality that every artist wants to achieve. See how to develop a painting further with the use of fluid mixes, to add detail and focus the viewer’s eye.
But there is so much more to this workshop, for as always, this step-by-step demonstration is packed-full of professional hints and tips that will help you get the most out of your experience of painting in oils. Close-up camera shots enable you to see exactly how the paint works on the surface – something that we are never able to demonstrate in painting sessions or classes attended by an audience or students.
Not only do you get to see every colour mix on my palette, but once again, close-up camera shots allow you to see the effects of surface colour mixing, as I work one layer over another.
As with all of our tutorials, my running commentary not only describes what I am doing, it also tells you why and is filled with spontaneous tips that occur as the painting progresses. We never edit anything out of our tutorials, which are filmed in real-time - so that I can share the entire experience, including any mishaps, which lets me show you how to resolve them,
SUBJECT - I am working on the impasto painting produced in Series 3 of ‘Learn to Enjoy Painting in Oils with Paul Taggart’, which, along with Series 1, 2, and 4 is we share the process of working in layers from dark to light, broken down into the principal stages of the thin underpainting, impasto and the art of glazing – so that the method can be fully understood. Their ‘companion’ box-sets ‘Painting Topical Techniques for Oils with Paul Taggart’ feature not only the basics of these techniques, but a whole range of painting hints, tips and further lessons, all essential in achieving successful artworks that you will have enjoyed creating.
We look forward to your company and as always, send you best wishes for your painting, from Eileen and myself.”

Ruin photographed on our Blue Ridge trip last year. We saw ruins like this all over the Blue Ridge. I don't remember this one specfically, but it's file number from my camera suggests it was on the Cradle of Forestry premesis.

For awhile Ian and I sat near the Tidal Basin and this little guy came swimming along. He was begging for a photo op.
In this convuluted time of Kali, just before Yuga. We, especially "I". Must struggle or meditate away and overcome our anger, fear, greed, hatred and sadness at this specfically trying time in our Planet's human history.Hatred and greed and dishonesty and anger and FEAR are all around, and I am projecting outwards the word PEACE and LOVE and TRUST in LIGHT and enlightening ourselves to a higher frequency and plain in God Light.

A word about Long Pond. Long Pond is one of the Belgrade Lakes in central Maine about 25 minutes from Augusta.
Ever see the Henry Fond movie, "On Golden Pond"? The pond in the film is inspired by several ponds, including this one. To be more specfic; the dangerous part of the Pond where they have the boat crash was based on a section of this lake. Its name in the film escapes me.
