Pfc. (now Spc.) Paul Islas of USAREUR's D Company, 2-159th Attack Reconnaissance Battalion assembles a weapon on his way to being named the 12th Combat Aviation Brigade's top Soldier for 2014. Islas is now one of 30 top Soldiers, NCOs and junior officers from across U.S. Army Europe who will compete in the annual USAREUR Best Warrior Competition in Grafenwoehr, Germany, Sept. 14-19. Two of Islas's D Company colleagues -- 1st Lt. Kyle Amonson and Sgt. Elliot Pratt -- will be competing as well.
