This transporter bridge, built in 1893, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a wander around the rivers banks in upmarket Getxo and Portugalete is a great way to spend the afternoon.

One of my favorite parts about living in Costa Rica was seeing all of the different flora and fauna that we do not have in Wisconsin. This photo was taken of Macaws (or Lapas) in captivity, but I was lucky enough to see them in the wild as well!

My program took place in the capital city of Costa Rica, San Jose, but I really enjoyed traveling to the beach towns while on program. We rented bikes in a town called Puerto Viejo on the Caribbean and went to all of the different beaches. It was super cool to experience the cultural variation within just one county.

Reflections (Spot the W!) My group took a trip to Uvita on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica, and we had a fantastic time exploring the most beautiful stretch of beach.
