This picture was taken at El Mercado Central in downtown San José. I took a medical Spanish class and for one of our assignments, we took a field trip and talked to the local vendors about their holistic medicine practices. It was a great way to practice our Spanish and so cool to learn about the culture and practices!

This is the view from looking down the river at the Instituto Hemingway. Obviously it is not the entire building and rather than asking you to count windows it is the 3rd floor in the yellow section. The view from the schools many balconies is nothing short of beautiful
This teacher was thrilled to have the Dream Bus visit Sandburg Elementary every week. Claudia taught four-year-old Kindergarten in Spanish for Sandburg's 4K classroom for native Spanish speakers this year. She encouraged her students' families to sign-up for library cards by coordinating a classroom Dream Bus visit, and, throughout the year, Dream Bus staff helped her find books in Spanish for classroom topics she was featuring each month, like trees, clothing, community helpers, or first day in five-year-old Kindergarten. She also had personal reasons for visiting the bus! Here she visits after-school with her daughters and everyone loads up on books. Thanks for a great school year, Claudia! Photos by Amy Winkelman.
