This is my "ooh la la, it is tres pretty, oui?" face. As you can see, I don't speak French.
One slouchy beret, based on "Le Slouch" by Wendy Bernard. Knitpicks City Tweed HW. I may have made it too slouchy, though.
Our apartment complex has a brook running along one edge. There's even a little bridge over the brook as your drive into the complex. Usually it's dry as a bone, with maybe a little trickle after a shower.
We've had so much rain recently, ending with three huge storms today. After the final storm passed, the sky was blue but the brook was busting its embankments. We've never seen it this high. Of course we had to walk over and get a close look.
Normally, from here, there's about a four foot drop to the bottom of the dry creek. This time, it was just an inch or two down to rushing water. See here for a broader view.

After careful consideration, I just couldn't stand how different the color was of the left front of the sweater compared to all of the other pieces. So in a matter of minutes, I ripped out about 4 nights of knitting, back to the ribbing (I admit, the thought of reknitting the ribbing didn't appeal - I'll live with the colors in that bit of the sweater).
I've already completed 2 pattern repeats, so with a little perseverance, I should be done with this piece by the weekend.
I decided against the flip top, since I didn't want to cover up the cables.

I am easily influenced. Mersidotes mentioned this book (Ella Minnow Pea by Mark Dunn) on my rereader photo, and I was so intrigued by the description I had to pick up a copy. I started it last night, and haven't been able to put it down. It took all of my willpower not to read it at every stoplight on the drive home. I finished it about a half hour after I took this photo.
Thanks for the recommendation, Merrie! Now to scour the bookshelves for some of the other books that were mentioned..
Mr. Martini needed the car, so I took this quick snapshot while I waited for him to pick me up from work. For the most part, the two of us sharing one car hasn't been a problem at all. The only time it's a hassle is when the car is out of service. For instance, about 15 minutes after this photo was taken, we hit this open grate, resulting in our car being out of commission for two days while we had the rim replaced. Thanks to the kindness of friends, I was able to get to work and Mr. M could get the car repaired. Not too bad, all things considered.
The Jennie the Potter mug I ordered a few weeks ago arrived yesterday is already being put to good use.
Also, this manicure is wearing like iron. Barely any tip wear. I think it helps that I chopped my nails off last week.
Starting another hat for Mr. M. I finished the one I started a couple of weeks ago (remember this picture?). But I think he looks better in hats with fold up brims. So I'm making another one.
I love everything about this - the color, the pattern, everything. I'm definitely making another one!
