With no viewfinder and the sun blaring down, I crossed my fingers and took a few shots of the space shuttle Endeavour as it loomed from its last pass across LAX and over the pacific ocean.

Joshua demonstrates the size of a J-1 engine. Three of these power the space shuttle. Eight would be necessary to produce as much thrust as just one of the F-1 engines that powered the Saturn V.
