My career peaked in 1991, when I was a photographer for the National Air and Space Museum. We got a trip out to the storage annex at IAD (now the Udvar-Hazy Center), to look at some of the goodies in storage: the original flying mockup of the space shuttle, Lockheed Constellation, and an SR-71 Blackbird.
Enterprise vertical stabilizer. I think while I was in this hangar, I missed a Concorde taking off outside.
I remember assembling an Estes model rocket kit that described the lifting body research at NASA. I believe the lifting body research was a precursor to the space shuttle program, and had some impact on the space shuttle design decisions.
