My flickr contact Grant and I had lunch on June 10, 2016 at the historic Bomber Restaurant in Ypsilanti, Michigan (good food). The Bomber's name relates to World War II, when workers from the nearby Willow Run B-24 Liberator Bomber plant would frequent the restaurant. Today, numerous model airplanes hang from the ceiling, such as the Space Shuttle and its transporter seen here.

I'm not a particular collector of space related diecast models but will sometimes dabble if I find them interesting enough. I found a couple of three vehicle sets in a Chinese bazaar whilst out in Spain and the contents instantly looked recognisable. They are exactly the same ones offered at Smyths Toys in the UK thus making me think they were made by Xin Yu Toys. A look on their website reveals they AREN'T made by that Chinese toy company and unfortunately its packaging only gave the name of the importer so for the time being i've no idea who actually made this Space Shuttle Endeavour.
Quite a small casting in the same vein as the old Corgi Juniors equivalent and not featuring any opening cargo doors, basic but fun.

This image, taken by Van Wideman, shows a group of skydivers making a jump with the Space Shuttle Discovery launching in the background-- and it was on April 24, 1990, when Discovery took the Hubble Space Telescope into orbit!

As seen from Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Launch was 6:21 am about 1 hour before sunrise. Distance from Ponte Vedra to the Cape is aprox 148 miles.

By the looks of the payload, I’m pretty sure this is STS-2.

Gorgeous artwork that was used as the basis for depicting at least three different shuttle missions, to include STS-3, for which a variant was featured on the cover of the March 1982 Rockwell International “Press Information” booklet for the flight.
Being of Rockwell International origin, possibly by Manuel Alvarez? Henry Lozano? Bert Winthrop? Somebody else?

The STS-115 mission continued construction of the International Space Station. Three spacewalks were planned to install the P3/P4 integrated truss, deploy the solar arrays and prepare them for operation. A new procedure called a "camp out" was implemented, in which astronauts slept in the Quest airlock prior to their spacewalks. The process shortens the "prebreathe" time during which nitrogen is purged from the astronauts' systems and air pressure is lowered so the spacewalkers avoid the condition known as the bends.

In the upper levels of the Vehicle Assembly Building at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida, space shuttle Discovery is moved toward high bay 3 where the external fuel tank and solid rocket boosters are already stacked on the mobile launcher platform.
Discovery is set to launch on mission STS-119 carrying the final starboard truss, S6, in the assembly of the International Space Station.

The fiery glow from the liftoff of space shuttle Endeavour on the STS-126 mission fills the Launch Pad 39A and water nearby at Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Liftoff was on time at 7:55 p.m. EST. STS-126 was the 124th space shuttle flight and the 27th flight to the International Space Station.

A large group of Astronauts from the Shuttle and Apollo projects wave to crowds as the Space shuttle Atlantis makes its trip to its new home at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, early Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, in Cape Canaveral, Fla.
