An impressive bird, we were unable to photograph any in the water this year, A group of 15 were always near the small nearby waterhole

These birds a always stunning to see, surprisingly well camouflaged even with their bright colours

Margao, South Goa, India

The most common raptor in the area, seen everywhere. This one enjoying a snake

A small group of these birds in the area

I always think these birds are one of the most stunning raptors, very numerous in Goa.

It was our last day at Palolem. To our dismay, it rained almost the entire day limiting our movement to the bitch side sack. But towards the evening it started clearing out and I got some amazing landscape. Towards evening the fish catcher became hyper active too. In this frame few guys are pushing a fishing boat, to go for a fishing trip.

Venue : Palolem Beach, South Goa, India.

Only one we came across this year, distant and in poor light.

Just the one bird seen, distant too

The twelve houses in the Tudor hamlet in Netravali, South Goa, is never short of fresh, drinking water. There are about six tap which flow throughout as the water comes from the fresh water springs in the hills.

An ID shot of this bird, resident in the West of India.

I'm on the road for the next few weeks - hopefully trotting all over South East Asia and making it back to one of my favourite countries Cambodia.

Internet permitting I'll images for you on flickr else you can always peek over at my blog - trivialmatters.blogspot.com/
