A small group of these birds in the area

This is a swallowtail butterfly belonging to the genus Pachliopta, the roses, or red-bodied swallowtails. A common butterfly in the area

A very common Bee-eater in the area, very obliging too!

An almost prehistoric looking bird, only seen flying, their size is very impressive.

One flock seen around our hotel, at this time of year they lose their breeding colours sadly.

A new bird for us, we didn't see these in North Goa last year. This pair were very obliging .

One from the archive. Taken early evening outside a bar on South Goa beach some years ago. A bit of a cliche shot I know. All been done before. However, how I wish I was there now!

Only to see, this one on our local guide Shiva Mandre's thumb.

Another Pansy butterfly. It exists in two distinct adult forms, which differ chiefly in the patterns on the underside of the wings; the dry-season form has few markings, while the wet-season form has additional eyespots and lines

I didn't expect to see this bird, like being in the UK again, light was better though!.

A common bird, although only a few seen this year

Another Winter visitor to the area and the larger of the Sand plovers. It never seems as numerous but luckily just as obliging

Striking birds, usually in pairs and often very tame.

We saw a couple of these on our travels, this being the closest one, magnificent bird.

Sun goes down on the Palolem beach in South Goa.

Several of these little birds around our hotel, a twitch if in Norfolk!

One of the species of Pansy, dull but still attractive.

These were numerous. Like the Purple Swamp hen their feet are huge to allow them to walk on the weed growth.

Exterior facade of the Portuguese era building of the government primary health care center in the city.

A few of these seen, not that many butterflies around in goa at this time of year but several different species.

This year we had a Roller a few hundred yards from the hotel and we encountered several more so spoilt for choice.

Those were early days with my first DSLR. Infact, just started shooting only in RAW after dumping "JPEG Fine" forever. This was being shot with "not so solid" tripod in a cloudy afternoon!

I remember, it was my first major family trip with my first DSLR :)

Clicked on 29 Sept 2014 at #Palolem #southgoa beach, when i was not so sure about #longexposure shots. Moreover, windy September, not so rock-solid tripod(it was my first tripod, now I am having a rock solid manfrotto) make life not easy for any photographer.
