فرارسیدن نوروز را به شما و همه انسانها تبریک عرض می کنم، به شما بخاطر جشن زندگی که به بشریت هدیه کرده اید و به همه انسانها که می خواهند حق زندگی را بجا آورند. در مراسم نوروز که بنگرید چه می بینید؟ چهارشنبه سوری یادگار ایستادن بر حق و عبور از آتش برای اثبات بیگناهی و حقمداری است. نوروز روزی است که انسان خلاق و فعال، آزاد و مستقل در برابر هفت سین می نشیند، در علامتها توجه کنید هم گویای عمران طبیعت و رشد انسانند هم از نمادهای قدرت در این سفره هیچ نیست، هرچه هست نماد صلح، نماد استقلال و آزادی انسان، نماد زیست در برادری و دوستی در جامعه مستقل، آزاد، باز و تحول پذیر است. اعضای خانواده در دوستی و عشق بر گرد این سفره می نشینند و در سراسر کشور همه جا چنین است، یعنی یک وجدان همگانی به ضرورت همبستگی ملی، رهایی از خشونت و خشونت زدائی وجود دارد برای اینکه جامعه هر اندازه از درون همبسته تر باشد، برابرتر و برادرتر است و هر اندازه نظام اجتماعی عادلانه تر باشد، از خطرهای بیرون مصون تر و از ستم زورمداران رهاتر.
به تاریخ بنگریم، می بینیم که نوروز یک گذار است، گذار از یک نوع زندگی به نوع دیگری از زندگی. به هفت سین نگاه کنید، به شما می گوید که جامعه ایرانی از زندگی پیش از بوم نشینی به عمران طبیعت و رشد عبور کرده است و این گذار را جشن گرفته است. از دید دیگر نگاه کنیم، بنابر روایتی که می گوید نوروز یادگار خیزش ایرانیان و جنبش همگانی آنان بر ضد ضحاک و رها شدن از استبداد ضحاکی و بازیافتن جامعه ای است که در آن انسانها شهروند و مستقل و آزاد بوده اند، در نمادهای این خیزش که بنگریم می بینیم ایستادگی بر حق، مظلومیت و بیگناهی با پهلوانی جمع می شود و نماد ایندو کاوه آهنگر است پس این جشن که شما به بشر هدیه کرده اید، جشن استقلال و آزادی انسان و جشن زندگی در حق و حقمداری است.
امروز به زندگی خود بنگرید تا ببینید این زندگی را وقتی بازخواهید یافت، وقتی شهروند خواهید شد، وقتی غرور انسانی را بازخواهید یافت که بتوانید آن مسائلی که در طول تاریخ به استمرار وجود داشته اند را حل کنید. از آن جمله است بدست آوردن اختیار دین؛ هر کس خود خویشتن را رهبری می کند پس اختیار دین هر کس در دست خود اوست، نه در دست دولت، نه در دست مقام دینی و غیر دینی. باز در هفت سین بنگرید، حضور قرآن در 7 سین به معنی اینستکه می گوید اختیار دین با من است. مساله دوم، زیست در این جهان بدون روابط قوا و در صلح با بقیت جهان؛ در طول تاریخ، بحرانها و جنگها زندگی و حیات ملی ما را تهدید کرده اند که حل این مشکل در این است که اختیار کشور را خود بدست گیرید.
و بالاخره مسئله نیروهای مسلح است، نیروهای مسلح در کشوری که آزاد و مستقل است در خدمت ملت و تحت فرمان ملت است. ننگ است برای نیروی مسلح که سلاح خود را بروی مردم بگیرند پس شما نیروهای مسلح خود را خدمتگذار و تحت فرمان ملت بزرگ ایران بدانید و آنروز که چنین می شود یعنی دولت از آن ملت می شود، نیروهای مسلح از آن ملت می شوند، اختیار دین هر کس با خود او می شود، آنروز نوروز است و من برای شما چنین نوروزی را آرزو می کنم.

Wounded Vietnam veteran offers troops a message of hope

KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany – When Marine Lance Cpl. Anthony Brocato went to see inspirational speaker Dave Roever Aug. 1 at Rhine Ordnance Barracks, the mortuary affairs specialist from Maryland hoped the disfigured Vietnam veteran would offer words of hope to him.
Brocato joined roughly 1,500 troops – many who thought they were simply there to attend run-of-the-mill suicide awareness training. But Roever’s story – suffering horrible burns from a phosphorus grenade while serving on a Navy patrol boat in Vietnam and how he recovered – was told with a mix of humor, wit and subtle seriousness. It kept the crowd laughing, while on the verge of crying.
“It helped out a lot because I just lost a friend to suicide two months ago,” said Brocato, 19, of Bel Air, Md., a Marine reservist training at Landstuhl.
Roever, 65, has spent the past decade travelling the globe to spread his message, “never lose hope.” In Vietnam, Roever was burned beyond recognition when a phosphorous grenade exploded in his hands. In the hospital, he attempted suicide by removing a tube that he thought kept him alive, Roever told the crowd.
“It was my best failure in life, when I pulled the wrong tube out,” Roever said. “I got hungry instead of dead.”
While crowds roared with laughter, Roever insists he’s not a joker. Everything he discusses is a human experience that he went through, he said.
“I take real life experience and choose to look at through the eyes of hope and laughter,” Roever said. “It’s all in how you look at life. It’s a choice.”
During late-July, Roever spoke to troops at events in U.S. Army Garrison Baden-Württemberg in Heidelberg and U.S. Army Garrison Baumholder. The speaking series was organized by Lisa Velez, U.S. Army Garrison Kaiserslautern’s suicide prevention program manager.
“Suicide is the second leading cause of death for Soldiers with the summer months yielding the highest levels of attempts and completions,” Velez said, adding that collaborating with speakers like Roever is key to promoting awareness in military communities.
While at U.S. Army Garrison Kaiserslautern, Roever also met with injured service members at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center.
“I walk in their room and I’m on holy ground. It’s a hallowed sanctuary – I treat it like that. Because there lays a sacrifice for the cause of freedom,” Roever said. “I’ll do everything in my power to see them returned to the best life can give them and the best they can give to life.”
Brocato’s friend was just 18. He was also headed into the Marines, Brocato said. Instead, he fought with his girlfriend and committed suicide. Over the past weeks, Brocato felt himself in a slump over the loss of his friend.
After the crowds left, Brocato approached Roever, offering a rubber wristband – a memorial token with his fallen friend’s name and motocross number. Roever slipped it on and embraced Brocato.
“My buddy lost hope,” Brocato told Roever. “But I want to thank you for giving me hope. I will never lose hope and never give up. It’s not an option.”
