The historic schooner Adventuress (1913) sailing in the San Juan Islands. The ship has been sailing Puget Sound for over a half century and was named a National Historic Landmark in 1989.
Adventuress is owned and operated by nonprofit Sound Experience. The ship is used to educate, inspire and empower all to care for Puget Sound. Day and and overnight programs are offered aboard for teens, families and adults. www.soundexp.org
The historic 1913 schooner ADVENTURESS is based in Port Townsend WA. The School has been honored to have been able to support the boat through the years. Here, you can see some of the handwork going in to a new mainsail for the schooner during the 2012 Sailmaking, Rigging and Marine Canvaswork class.
The School's Sailmaking and Rigging class is taught once annually between early January and early April.
It is the only sailmaking and rigging course in North America. it is an approved course under the School's accreditation. VA loans are accepted.
The Northwest School of Wooden Boatbuilding is located in Port Hadlock WA, on the Olympic Peninsula, and is a private, accredited non-profit vocational school. The School is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC).
Our mission is to teach and preserve the fine art of wooden boatbuilding and traditional maritime crafts. We build both commissioned and speculative boats for sale while teaching students boatbuilding the skills they need to work in the marine trades.

With over 30,000 people attending the three-day event, and featuring 300 boats of all types and sizes, it is the largest wooden boat festival in the United States.
