3/7/09 In Memory of the House of Sound that was on N Williams in Porltand Oregon. I was waiting for the day it would open again, but instead the wrecking cranes came. At Vanessa Renwick's new film-art installation at NAAU which opened on Sat night. The 18 min film shows the fenced empty plots of land where HoS was, accompanied by an audio recording off a radio show program with folks who worked or bought records reminiscing about the place. The installation also had the original sign - saved! And an amazing puppet show by the Winter Solstice Puppet Collective and evolutionary Jass Band. Wow! It's funny how attached I can get to buildings or places. I lit a candle in memory by the House of Sound sign, and Devon and I cruised by the former location on the way home.
