Tullamarine Freeway approaching the Bolte Bridge. Taken through the front windscreen at 100 kph. Suffers a little as a result!! - I was in the passenger seat!

I shot this just after stepping into the market place by zooming in to 52.0mm. I used a ISO of 3200 to be able to expose the foreground he was standing in. In turn, this overexposes the background, but washing it out brings full attention to the subject. Still using a moderately slow shutter speed of 1/100, you can see a bit of motion blur in his hands from his playing and swaying to the beat.

In Photoshop I turned and cropped the photo so that the subject was in the center of the photo. Although this is considered "bad" composition, I think it suited the way he had purposely faced my camera head on for me to capture his great expression. I also lowered the exposure and lightness in an attempt to soften the harsh white background. I also lowered the magenta saturation to taste.

Milford Sound is a fjord on the western shore of New Zealand's south island. We spent a delightful night on the Milford Wanderer surrounded by white capped mountains and penguins. The following morning we watched it sail from the shore, sorry that our adventure had ended.

I did not know what the title of this book that I was given, but I do know the book is about deafness in children because inside is a bunch of pages that talk about how children develop deafness and different treatments and treatment centers. The context of the book seemed really interesting, so I decided to base my project off of it.

I did not know what to do at first, so I just did what my instincts told me and just began to tear the pages out. I noticed a lot of blank pages so I kept them to the side and put the others in another pile. In the middle of my tearing session, I accidentally tore 4 pages in half. I put those aside and ripped the little chunks of paper from the binding out.

My idea for this project was what sound looks like. After a bunch of thinking I decided to do sound waves coming towards an ear. The ear was portrayed by what was left of the binding and the sound waves were made with the tore out papers. Unfortunately, I was so distracted by doing this work that I forgot that I was conveying the idea of deafness. But luckily, I still had that pile of blank pages and pile of leftover scraps. I made the blank pages shoot straight into “the ear” to show that all of these messages are coming towards the ear but it is getting nothing. I used the scraps to make a ball of confusion or possibly a rupture in the head and brain.
