NATURE-BASED SOLUTIONS: HOW TO HARNESS OUR GREATEST ASSETS FOR CLIMATE RESILIENCE
The Nature Conservancy estimates nearly one-third of greenhouse gases can be captured through nature-based solutions like forestry management. The goal of reducing our carbon footprint through offsets is an ideal win-win for both nature and society, but as businesses move to implement these solutions, there is warranted skepticism about the integrity of the proposals and the legitimacy of the promises made by carbon-offset markets. There is also a need to balance the pursuit of carbon neutrality in the global economy with the role and needs of indigenous communities as stewards of the environment. By standardizing best practices for carbon offsets and empowering local and indigenous communities by including them in the decision-making that directly impacts their lives, we can strive for greater transparency and integrity in the carbon-offset market to benefit both forests and people.

Given the overall success of this innovative project, TBF looks forward to pursuing similar projects for other marginalized South-East Asian communities in the near future.

Transforming disadvantage and vulnerable young people is one of Nkwa4change Solutions long term commitment programme designed for the exceptional empowerment of disadvantage and vulnerable young people in the marginalized two English speaking Regions of Cameroon.
Driven and motivated by our own story, most of these young people lack proper orientation, battling with extreme poverty and do not know the way forward for their life and career. Most of them are at risk of undertaking desperate journeys or illegal migration to North America, Europe and Middle East, where most of them likely fall prey to traffickers or get drown in oceans.
Our long term commitment programme through school and after club mentorship/training activities will:
-Mentors, trains and properly prepare over 500 disadvantage and vulnerable young people each year intellectually, emotionally and psychologically to be able to face the challenging African society with total confidence.
-Train disadvantage and vulnerable young people to be able to unlock latent opportunities within their environment
-Boost their imaginative power and activate the seed/beast of creativity embedded in disadvantage and vulnerable young people.
-Raise greater awareness/consciousness against self and community destructive behaviors among young people
-In sum, the project will transform disadvantage and vulnerable young people into exceptionally talented, skilled and solution-oriented citizens capable of challenging conventional wisdom.

ENABLING THE UK’S ENERGY TRANSITION
The United Kingdom has committed to sourcing 100 percent clean energy by 2035, but delivering on this goal while supplying safe, affordable, and reliable power is complicated. Energy systems that have long relied on fossil fuels must transform to run on clean energy—ramping up renewables and embracing new, sustainable technologies. What is the optimal resource portfolio across generation, demand, and storage? What network and systems need to be in place to get clean energy to consumers when they need it? What market reform is required to encourage the right investments and ensure consumer value?
