Drifting up to the Adolph crossing as they prepare to enter yard limits of Proctor. It's another example of how crappy the weather has been for photography for the last month or so. All EMD old school still is worth going after though.

i shoulda thought this through a little more and keep these last catch-up uploads a bit more chronological, eh? :P my emotions get all out of order, haha. backtrack a bit to summer 2013 for this one, sort of a sequel i suppose to my original walking on water shot from 2011 - even using the same oar: www.flickr.com/photos/karrah_kobus/5995642749/

and here is the original description i wrote with this photo:

sometimes i have to wonder why i beat myself up so bad. i try to be perfect. i try to take the perfect photograph. i try to say the perfect thing, be the perfect person for everyone. sometimes i catch up with myself and remember that "perfect" isnt real. and my perfect, isnt even your perfect, and in the end it all makes so little sense. its silly, because i always feel the worst about myself when i havent been making photos, but i havent been making photos because i feel inferior... and ive been sharing even less because i feel my work isnt where i want it to be. its an old habit that truly has been dying hard - i need to be reminded that im strong and beautiful and worthwhile, cause we all are, arent we? it seems even more silly that my whole world can be rocked so deeply by what was once, not long ago, just a hobby, and a dream. a new little spark in my soul... something i simply craved being "good" at, without even knowing how badly i NEEDED it.

im quite used to giving pep talks at workshops, speaking passionately about following your dreams and never giving up no matter what life throws in your way - even when its yourself. and while i mean every word, im not quite as good at giving these talks to myself. though today im forcing myself to be brave and share a piece of me with the world - because i know deep down, its what i live for and its throwing these little pieces out into the universe that builds me up. im pretending til my mind believes that im triumphant again. like im on solid ground, even if im not.

as always, to book your own shoot, workshop, buy prints/license images, or just to chat email karrahbkobus@gmail.com.

A now very rare occurrence as two Blue & Gold GP38s power 610 southbound. There are only three Blue & Gold geeps left on NECR property. The rest are either on CSOR or repainted into G&W colors.

Solid Snake - Metal Gear Solid

Took me like 5 months mainly because I'm lazy. My favorite thing I've made by far.

To complete the little series I started yesterday here is the second minimalistic seascape.

weather still sucks...

CN X322 has a train of solid autoracks as it passes through Beaconsfield with CN 5619 & CN 2183 for power. In the distance VIA 63 has a clear signal on the south track.

A candid street photo of a young strong, bald-headed man with large human skull tattoo on his back. He proudly stands in blue jeans shorts by the public fountain on a hot day of summer. The impression of a single solid bone.

Solid Rock

Goanna

Out here nothin' changes

Not in a hurry anyway

You can feel the endlessness

With the comin' of the light o' day

You're talkin' 'bout a chosen place

You wanna sell it in a marketplace

Well

Well just a minute now

You're standin' on

Solid rock

Standin' on sacred ground

Livin' on borrowed time

And the winds of change

Are blowin' down the line

Right down the line

It’s not often (ever really) that I’ll take the camera out in the midday sun. It’s even more rare that it won’t be on a tripod.

Broke both of these self imposed rules on Sunday. We had been driving for a while, and my girls needed lunch, so a man is taking his life into his hands when he wants to stop roadside to have a look at a ‘composition’.

I jumped down into the scrub, watching step by step for any sign of an over friendly snake, and knocked out a few quick hand held images.

Hope you like ‘“Solid Rock”

Cheers, Mike

And here's legendary Australian band 'Goanna' with their song: 'Solid Rock' (1982) - from their album 'Spirit Of Place'.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=tSNxFGW09Mo

‘Solid Rock’ deals with issues of land rights for the aboriginal people of Australia. According to songwriter Shane Howard, the inspiration for the song came on a 10-day camping trip at Uluru (Ayres Rock) in Central Australia, in 1980, where he saw ‘an incredible injustice that needed to be dealt with … I had to reassess my whole relationship with the land and the landscape, and understand that we [the white people] had come from somewhere else, and we had disempowered a whole race of people when we arrived.’

The protest message resonated with the Australian public, with the single peaking at Number 3 on the Australian Kent Music Report and winning Best Debut Single at the 1982 Countdown Music and Video Awards.

They were a band that also passionately supported environmental issues. Their next song was entitled: 'Let The Franklin Flow' - all about the controversial decision to dam the Franklin River in Tasmania and thus destroy a pristine wilderness, at a time when Tasmanians, it seemed, wanted to dam all their rivers and build massive power stations everywhere!!

I'll confess, this quilt was started awhile ago to be used as a "solids" demonstration piece for my LQS and has nothing to do with this swap. My inspiration came from a black and white rug hooking drawing by Karla Gerard that I saw on someone's pinterest board. Needless to say, this 14x21 1/2 quilt is both machine and hand quilted with the addition of over 100 tiny buttons, plus white french knots to give a mystical affect. Now, I must get serious and make my partner's quilt. Stay tuned......

B&W of Cotton Floats photo earlier in the photostream (link: flickr.com/photos/sunhorseflower/1529106446/ ). This was taken on a hot September day driving down to Patagonia Lake in Southern Arizona. The clouds were just so pretty.

Inside a long-abandoned ore processing plant in the first week of spring this year, when it was still bitter cold and several inches of ice caked the floors.

The place has a rusty cheese grater for a roof, and all the precipitation rains right down on the machinery in some places. These appear to be some sort of rotating drums to wash the finished product.

Thanx for all the comments and all the best. We're all belong to each other and came from same father and mother (Adam and Eve), so peace and justice for all :)
