Half an hour after sunset, a waning crescent Venus was recorded using a 1000-mm focal length f/8.3 refractor. The exposure was for ~1/25 of a second using a 25-mm eyepiece (ISO 200). You will notice that Jupiter was recorded using the same eyepiece and exposure time but with a higher ISO speed rating. Some post-processing of the RAW file was employed to extract as much information as possible from the "as shot" image smeared by 1) a poor seeing and 2) a severe cromatic aberration due to a bargain telescope; the blue channel turned out to be the richest and most reliable source of good pixels.

Nothing more than a pale blue disc at about 1.7bn miles from Earth... 1min webcam video processed in Registax.

After the LHB, the solar system has few asteroids and the planetary orbits are still wobbling.The red ring is the orbit of Jupiter. Neptune (the blue ring) is now further out than Uranus.

This piece is a necklace called "A Twist in the Universe." It features a really cool shell pendant that I found on sale at Hobby Lobby that I combined with some chunky nugget rocks, some lava rock (very interplanetary), and finished off with a bit of Totally Twisted pink wire!
As soon as I saw that pendant, I thought of outerspace...and knew it would be perfect for the challenge. But, then with my Totally Twisted book in hand, I figured the pink would really make it pop!
