So... my horoscope said: "That moment when the Sun is eclipsed will be your moment of introspection as you prepare for a big change. Once that passes, prepare to be amazed. This is a time of letting that light shine, and figuring out where you really belong, and who you belong to. Hint: You belong to the ones that make you feel like you shine in their world.
The New Moon and solar eclipse in Fixed Fire Sign Leo is all about being ready for the big change that is coming. You can′t stop it from happening. And it′s nothing to fear. That′s because this one, like every other transit, is all about ensuring your success. It′s your time to shine, baby! Expect the unexpected. Make those New Moon wishes count. This one could be the biggest new beginning of your life."
Ok, yes, please. I am ready for the biggest new beginning of my life. I am ready to be amazed. Today was one bad thing after another (well ...except for the eclipse... I did get to see it and I did have solar glasses, so I still have my eyesight... all good!) Other than that...everything sucked and yesterday was pretty much the same. So ... bring it on.... amaze me!! PLeeeeZe!!!
(I brought my camera, but had no intention of trying to photograph the eclipse... I can't even get a shot of the moon...so I decided I would leave that to the experts... and better photographers. This is an iPhone photo from Jenny Jump State Park's observatory... where volunteers let you look through solar eclipse binoculars and telescopes. It was an awesome place to be... the only bright spot in the day (even with the sun being eclipsed!!) ; )
Today's partial solar eclipse (this was maximum occultation from my location) in Hydrogen Alpha narrowband.
After a clear blue sky, clouds started coming in in the afternoon sky. We had solar halos for hours.
A macro shot of the leaves of an amaryllis plant with the solarized filter of Photoshop Elements 5.0 applied....
The textured background is a window screen in our kitchen.
This handheld shot was taken with a Nikon D80 coupled with a 18-200 VR lens. The vibration reduction lens does a nice job of reducing the blurring that is normally associated with the slight movement that occurs when I press the shutter button.
A composite of the April 8th, 2024 solar eclipse as seen in Waterloo, Ontario.
We reached 99.2% totality. Ah well, I'll try to do better on the next total eclipse which is will be visible here in 2079 !!
Not a fancy location, not an iconic setting. Just an awe inspiring experience, shared with the family.
Heavy cloud cover over the Buffalo, NY region limited viewing for the total solar eclipse, but I did get more images than I thought I would.

Clouds sometimes helps ... the exciting partial solar eclipse seen from Venice.
Eclisse solare
Le nuvole a volte aiutano... l'emozionante eclissi solare parziale vista da Venezia.
A macro shot of small solar cells on my pocket calculator. I guess that the dust gives a feeling for the size of the visible part of the solar cells.
Captured with my iPhone 8 and the "Black Eye" macro lens.
Thank you for viewing, commenting and / or adding this photo to your favorites. It's very much appreciated.
Reprocessed with Topaz AI software from original NEF from 2018. A Solar pillar is special, it is a once or so a year or two event here in Tucson AZ when the atmospheric conditions are just right.

Solar Coaster.
Solar Coaster was do just that in the November winds that had come ashore at Port Macquarie.
The sometimes strong winds provided the perfect conditions for sailors to take their yachts and spread their sails on the waters of the Hastings River.

Today was a partial solar eclipse that was best visible in Sweden and Finland. It wasn't a full eclipse anywhere in the world. The weather forecast said it would be cloudy, so I almost didn't get out of bed to shoot this, I'm glad I did. There was a little cloud cover, but the sun was visible behind them.
L is your friend!
Another capture of the wonderful Sunset this evening and managed to get to a location shooting straight into the Power Lines enabling me to name this Image Solar Power.
I was putzing around with one of Jane's frames and ended up with a pretty close approx of an old darkroom/film technique known as solarization. I'm sure there's a button that does this all at once, but I had fun getting there on my own.
2017 Solar eclipse taken from Jackson Wyoming with a Nikon 500mm f/4 lens and a 2x teleconverter on a Sony A7RII.
Did you hear? Today is Slider Sunday. So I decided to really do it up with a solarization slider in NIC.
This is a shot of trees growing in an oasis in desert caused by Perry Spring. I was standing on a hump of basalt on the coulee floor looking across at another hump of basalt looming behind the trees. It was such an interesting area to explore.
Happy Slider Sunday!
Stitching 6 images together of the total solar eclipse on 8/21/17. It was a bluebird day east of Unity, Oregon.
Solar Radio telescope for Chromosphere observation, displayed in the National Science Day 26 at Raman Research Institute in Bengaluru.
This first high-resolution image, taken on the first day of the Artemis I mission, was captured by a camera on the tip of one of Orion’s solar arrays. The spacecraft was 57,000 miles from Earth when the image was captured, and continues to distance itself from planet Earth as it approaches the Moon and distant retrograde orbit.
For this week's Flickr Friday theme "modern times"
It's not very easy to access (for obvious reasons) so took this through a gate, with signs around stating that the fences are electrified)!

Total Solar Eclipse in Chile. In the right side over the mountains, TOLOLO Obs. In the cost, La Serena City
yet another instance where it's hard to compete with the pros, but I'm happy I got to take a shot at it
I went into today anticipating 1/4000s shutter speeds and ended up with sub 1/100s for most of my shots because of the heavy cloud cover.
Fortunately by combining multiple images I was able to blur out the clouds and get a clearer view of the sun.
The total Solar eclipse was imaged on Ah Chong Island in the Montebello group in West Australia. This image is an exposure fusion of 7 one-stop images captured with a Nikon Z7II camera, Nikon 16-35 mm F lens @ 16 mm. The colors and darkness are close to my perception of the event. Jupiter is above the eclipsed Sun and Venus below just above the landscape. It was a bright eclipse and I only saw those two planets with my eye.

There are 89 dual-axis trackers capable of keeping the solar modules at the optimum angle to the sun. It is estimated to be 35% more efficient than a similar sized fixed-tilt system.
The annual electricity output from this installation exceeds 1 megawatt, about a third of the district's annual electricity needs.
