Prototyping. It took some time to distribute the tape this year. The effect of this was unexpected, several groups started on tape-less designs (cutting holes in straws like a daisy-chain). However, when tape arrived, all the groups gave up on this approach.

The group tried several designs on paper and with straws before settling on a design (not one of these earlier ones) and drawing it up to give to the implementation group.

The tech mentors told the kids, "We want you to come up to us at networking events. We look forward to it." You never know what doors and opportunities one connection can open up or spark!

--"The Art of the Followup." Meeting people is great and Purposeful followup is something to lean into. Step 1: Connect! Email is fine but there's no info about you. LinkedIn has a professional impact and it has your background and accomplishments. ADD your STRENGTHS to Linkedin! (Minimum age 16 LinkedIn)

Early fiddling with straws. These bendy straws tend to lead to quite different straws from the straight ones. Bendy straws lead to attempts to wrap the egg in boxes, straight straws lead to spiky constructions.

Kids responded to this. It helped them in crafting stories about themselves. They used examples of their top 3 strengths during live networking downstairs!
