Software vs Lens Quality
Lens correction of a Pentax K-1 on the SMC-Pentax FA* 2/24 IF&AL
Yet another pixel research project. So, what have I done here? First I took a picture of a grid with the 2/24 in RAW-format. From it I developed two different JPGs in the camera: the first one without any correction, the second one with lens correction (distortion, vignetting, lateral CA, diffraction) and color fringe correction, but without sharpening, noise reduction, etc., and then I compared them. For this I split the two images vertically through the center, the left part of the uncorrected image you can see in the upper left corner, the right part of the corrected image you can see in the upper right corner, both put together as it would be the whole picture, the yellow arrow indicates the seam.
In addition, I selected one square of the grid and enlarged it. You can see the same square of the corrected and uncorrected image on top.
Now it gets interesting: the dark part below shows the difference between the two complete images, that means, the difference of the value of each pixel is displayed by a new one. If the values of two pixels are identically, the difference is zero, so the new pixel is black. The brighter the new pixel is, the greater is the difference between the corrected and uncorrected picture. If the new pixel is colored, also the color was corrected. (Math: RGB-value(new pixel) = abs[RGB-value(pixel-pic1) - RGB-value(pixel-pic2)].)
I must admit, that I wanted to provoke a high amount of lens aberations, so I chose f2 and a short focal distance, ca. 60 cm, while the lens is designed for a focal distance of infinity of course.
You can see clearly the influence of the correction regarding distortion and vignetting. The deep darkness in the corners is just blown away. The black area in the center of the difference-view, where no correction happend, is remarkable large, but towards the border the pixels were moved a lot.
The enlarged squares on top show the treatment of the lateral CAs: not really efficient, purple and green just changed their places.
Note 1: Somewhat strange, the color fringe correction is only available when you are developing a raw-image in the camera. It is not supported, when you are taking pictures in jpg-format directly.
Note 2: Supported lenses are all DFA lenses, all DA lenses in APS-C-mode only, except some telephoto lenses, and I think most of the limited and FA* lenses, at least the better ones. Also three common FA lenses (2.8/28, 2/35, 1.4/50) are mentioned in my manual. Actually, my 2/35 is not supported, and I can use the corrections on my DA 3.5-5.6/18-55 in full-frame mode, yet I don't expect much here.
Note 3: I have firmware version 1.40.

Tim Stall presents ALM: Empowering Teams with Automation and Build Servers
ALM tooling: Empowering teams with build servers and metrics
Everyone knows that automated builds are a good thing, but many teams don't leverage them fully because it's hard to get started. Tim will go over practical techniques and concepts for automating builds with TFS and MSbuild. Once you have an automated build, there are dozens of steps you can hook into it, such as metrics. Tim will walk through several core metrics, including line count, code churn, duplication, complexity, and test code coverage, as well as the concepts and pitfalls for adopting these within a team.

Jersey Shore Fightin’ Texas Aggie Ring started up the AFATDS software on his PC this morning and issued me a call for fire order for 1300 hrs.
“What do you need with that?” I asked Aggie Ring.
“I want you to fire up the smoker after lunch so I can smoke some stuff.” said Aggie Ring.
“What stuff?” I asked.
“Well, I thought I’d allow you to drive me to that Polish speaking town down County Road 520 and buy me some freshly made meats.” replied Aggie Ring.
We got into the car and headed up RT 520. We passed some race horse farms, some moo cow farms and an emu farm.
“What the hell?” cried out Aggie Ring. “It’s 27 degrees out and those emus are frolicking in the pasture. I thought emus were warm weather birds.”
“Well, apparently not only.” was all I could say to Aggie Ring. “They do have lots of feathers. Maybe that keeps them warm enough to frolic in the cold.”
There was hardly any traffic so we made it to the Polish town in about 10 minutes. Aggie Ring and I entered the shop which is called “The Kielbasy Store.” (That must be a Polish spelling. I’m sure we spelt it differently in Texas.)
The Polish woman who is one of the owners greeted us and took our order. She remembered us from some photos we did for her a while back. Aggie Ring picked out a few pounds of thin T.V. Kielbasy, some German Bratwurst, and a few pounds of freshly cured bacon which he had the woman custom cut for him using the circular slicer’s thickest setting. He also procured some sort of German bologna(?) that had a German name that cannot be pronounced. Oh, that “T.V. Kielbasy….” I remember the first time I asked the butcher what “T.V. Kielbasy” was. She looked at me sadly like I was a special needs kid and explained what it was slowly.
While the nice Polish woman was wrapping up Aggie Ring’s order, he browsed around and picked out a couple of bottles of Polish pickles and some extra-hot Polish mustard, also some cans of paprika (both sweet and the hot kinds).
Aggie Ring and I thanked the nice woman and headed back towards the house. We made one additional stop on the way home at the grocery store for Aggie Ring to pick up some Swiss cheese and some Irish butter for Aggie Ring to put into the cold smoker along with the meats.
“Why would Aggie Ring want to put butter into a cold smoker” you might ask. Well, here on the Jersey Shore, Texas Aggie Ring does pretty much whatever the hell he wants. Nobody puts Aggie Ring into a corner and tells him what to do. Besides, it’s not as if there are many other Aggie Rings anywhere near him. Well, there is a Class of 2016 Aggie Ring somewhere a town over from us but it’s a BQ Aggie Ring and it plays the mellophone. Aggie Ring ’84 is terrified of mellophones. He associates mellophones with drum & bugle corps where the guys have “fabulous” haircuts and they actually have men twirling flags.
I double checked with Aggie Ring to see if he really wanted to smoke butter. He replied, “Yes, it’s a thing. I read about it on the internets.”
Aggie Ring took out his work knife when he got home and trimmed the rinds off of the Swiss cheese and cut the meat and cheeses into smaller portions to provide more surface area for the smoke to permeate.
I asked him what sort of wood he wanted to use. He told me, “I think we will start out with pecan and then switch to apple when that burns down. Once the smoker was going, Aggie Ring loaded the trays into it and personally checked the smoke levels when the door was shut. “Great.” I told him. “Now you’re going to smell like a smokehouse.

At Clearbridge, mobile software development Malaysia doesn’t just mean coding and style. Our agile development process is a lot more involved, encompassing strategy, development, QA, delivery, and maintenance.
We take this comprehensive approach since you can’t create a effective product without many of these aspects incorporated. An item could be technically great, and can fail whether it doesn’t offer value to users or there's no requirement for it on the market. Similarly, the initial worth of the merchandise could be obvious, however the product will fail when the consumer experience is poor and you will find defects.
We’re going to supply a high-level summary of the way we approach product at Clearbridge Mobile, demonstrating how factors for any more holistic process can greatly benefit the caliber of your products and how it can succeed available on the market.
