There 's nothing like cool temperatures and fresh air to raise the spirits. during my forays to the Alabama Hills the temperature can get up into the 100's and when they do, this is where I seek refuge. At around 9000 ft in elevation the difference in temperature is about 15 degrees and there nothing better the a fine mist that floats away from the falls right onto your weary soul.
Thanks for taking the time to take a look at my photos, and as always, your views, comments, faves, and support are greatly appreciated!! Have a great Weekend!! :)

Viva La Vida
In the game of life, the heart decides!
What is the best match for Frida?
Will he be the King of Diamonds?
Is it the Queen of Hearts?
Or maybe the Joker?
Ahhh-ha, for sure Frida is the one giving the cards ...
It is Frida who chooses: one, two, or if you prefer, stay three ...
"Viva La Vida" !!!
"Viva La Vida"!!!

Playing around with Tierazon fractal software. Such a fun and easy software tool. Creating fractals is really addictive !
A farewell to one of the most imaged objects in the night sky. A project I started in February on the Esprit 100ED telescope at the complex, but didn’t manage to get round to edit it until now. I used it to practice some new scripts in PixInsight for image blending. I am happy with the details in this image, the Esprit 100ED really is a great telescope for wide field imaging. The focal length of this image is 564mm after using the Skywatcher field flattener.
A much higher resolution image with imaging details can be found on my Astrobin page at: astrob.in/ev6jv9/0/
Thank you for looking.

* This shot would I think defy any straightening software. Both The Two Towers are leaning very significantly. At the heart of the city they are the symbol of Bologna. They are located at the intersection of the roads that lead to the five gates of the old ring wall (mura dei torresotti). The taller one is called the Asinelli while the smaller but more leaning tower is called the Garisenda. Their names derive from the families, which are traditionally credited for their construction between 1109 and 1119. Their construction was a competition between the two families to show which was the more powerful family.
The Asinelli tower rises 318 feet (97 metres) and slopes seven feet to the West. The smaller tower Garisenda once rose to 197 feet but it had 39 feet lopped off the height in the mid fourteenth century for safety reasons. Garisenda leans full 11 feet to the North East. It is possible to climb the 425 steps to the top of the Asinelli Tower but I did not risk my knees
It hard to imagine but Dante knew these towers well and are cited several times by in the Divine Comedy
Considering their size they proved rather difficult to photograph and this is probably the best of the many shots I took of them
THANKS FOR YOUR VISIT AND FOR TAKING THE TIME TO WRITE A COMMENT IT’S MUCH APPRECIATED AND SO MUCH MORE INTRESTING THAN JUST GIVING A FAVE
Taken in Berlin when I was there in February, my pano stitching software (Microsoft ICE) couldn't stitch well.
Now that I have Lightroom 6, I've tried it's pano functionality, and it actually worked quite nicely :-)

Giving Nik Software HDR efex Pro 2 a test run. I'm not big into HDR, but sometimes it's just kinda necessary (in small amounts). Now that I've got an awesome tripod of awesomeness, it's time I learned to embrace it.
Also thinking it might be time to leave my beloved CNX2. I love it. I wish they would upgrade it and fix all the problems with it and maybe give us a few more features, but it's been YEARS since NX2 was released, there's been no news from nik software of any intention of upgrading it, and their newest versions of the plug-ins aren't even compatible with NX..... sigh....
Testing CS6 with the nik software plug-ins now to see if I can make it close enough to NX2 to convince myself to make the switch.
