This photo was my first attempt to process a Nikon (NEF) RAW file with Nikon software (Capture NX-D) before applying noise reduction in Topaz Denoise as a 16-bit TIFF file. Unfortunately, Topaz Denoise does not recognise edits made to Nikon RAW files, hence the necessity to save as a TIFF file. Further tweaks were then made in PS and Lr.

This image is comprised of Ha and OIII band data, and for the first time I have a target where the OIII signal is far stronger than the Ha signal. In my rendering of this image that I posted a week ago, I could barely, if at all, see any evidence of the Ha in the image.
I altered my PixInsight workflow three ways to improve the original image and obtain this result. Before mapping the Ha and OIII to the RGB channels, I applied LinearFit to increase the intensity of the Ha data to match the OIII. After mapping Ha and OIII to the RGB channels, I applied SPCC, this time with Ideal QE Curve selected, and using Photon Flux for the Whte Reference. And lastly, I selected OIII as luminance when I mixed the colors in NarrowbandNormalization.
As a result of the alternate processing, I can see Ha depicted as a goldish color in the outlying wispy areas, and within the target object.

I hope this isn't too dark. I guess I can redo it if I need to. Anyway, this creation is thanks to Topaz software. I was playing around with the presets and found this one and kinda liked it.
Is anyone besides me having problems running Topaz with Windows 8.1? It keeps shutting down on me.
I passed out free shade trees today. Something the city does every year in an effort to cool the city down..:) I know you're laughing..:) but that's the plan.
Playing around with Tierazon fractal software. Such a fun and easy software tool. Creating fractals is really addictive !
We had a fun evening at the Atmo Supercomputer Party in Berkeley, California. Atmo just finished their first product, to be delivered to Uganda. The supercomputer has groundbreaking software to predict weather using a trained AI model, a first in this industry. That means substantial cost reduction while keeping the accuracy of weather forecast. A DJ entertained the guests after the talks.
I processed a photographic and a balanced HDR photos from a JPG exposure, blended them selectively, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

A beautiful landscape with a beautiful light make a beautiful shot. Period.
This picture comes from 3 raw (-2.0, 0, +2.0 EV) files taken with my amazing d7000 handheld.
Post-processing was made with Photomatix and Viveza software.
Rocks were not processed with any software, they're naturally 6-sided!!!

It's been ages since my last upload... too much to do, no mojo, you know how it is. But I dusted my camera down today and spent a little time in the sun. And played with Google's Nik software (which is available for free now). I'm hoping for more days like this!
With this, the third in a series of versions of this photo, I wanted to see the limits of using curves in digital software to colourize an image through out the greyscale, from shadows to hilites , while leaving others shades closer to the original.

This was imaged in the west until it passed behind a tree, west is not the best direction from my location. This was taken back at the beginning of September but it’s taken until now to get the enthusiasm up to process it as I’ve imaged and processed this on 3 other occasions but this is the first time with this camera.
Object Description:-
M27 the Dumbbell Nebula is a Planetary Nebula and lies in the constellations of Vulpecula. Its distance is about 1,360 ly with a visible magnitude of 7.5 and a diameter of 6 arcmin so it quit a small but bright object and is easily seen in a small telescope. It is believed that this star went nova about 14,600 years ago.
Note:-
As there is a lot of detail to be had in the Oiii (like most planetary Nebula and Super Nova remnants) I combined it with the Ha to create the luminance Layer.

Using Topaz Noise Adjust 6 for the first time.
This shot of a Beach Staggerwing Replica was very noise on the underside of the aircraft. Not a very good capture but a great candidate for the test.
I am feeling good after just listening to musician Nina Simone. I have now got my creativity back. At this current moment I'm having a Flickr contact/family/friend clear out. If you do add me as an contact, friend or family member then i expect you to interact with my photostream and just do one of the following which is to leave a comment or favourite behind on any of my photographs. Please check out my profile as i have mentioned this on there and i don't want to repeat myself again. Check my profile on a regularly basis as in time this rule might change. If you just follow this simple rule then i will have absolutely no problem in adding you back as an contact, friend or family member. I don't care who you are and it applies to everybody. I'm not asking for too much really. Don't always expect an comment back but i always try my best to get around to most of my Flickr contacts. Sorry i had to write this in my description everybody but i do hope you all understand.
The title for this diptych is credited to rock band 'Counting Crows'. I felt these two photographs combined together work very well and they both reflect my love for color/colour. I wanted both images to be very artistic and creative. My main purpose was to touch up on a sensitive issue regarding the condition which is Colorblindness. Once when i was at school studying Science my teacher thought i was colorblind which i found very insulting and I'm not by the way. Anyway i wanted to carry out my own investigation through research on the condition Colorblind. Before i detail the condition more, the ribbon around my head and mouth is actually to highlight blindness from the color/colour dread beads which i once used when i done a bit of Textiles at college and i have cross processed both images through software to create some very cool color tones.
Below is everything you need to know as i think awareness of this condition is important and i have tried to create strong visuals which gets my message out there to people very clearly in a sensitive way.
Further Information:
Color blindness, or Colour blindness, a color vision deficiency, is the inability to perceive differences between some of the colors that others can distinguish. It is most often of genetic nature, but may also occur because of eye, nerve, or brain damage, or due to exposure to certain chemicals. The English chemist John Dalton published the first scientific paper on the subject in 1798, "Extraordinary facts relating to the vision of colours", after the realization of his own color blindness; because of Dalton's work, the condition is sometimes called daltonism, although this term is now used for a type of color blindness called deuteranopia.
Color blindness is sometimes classed as a disability; in certain situations, however, color blind people have an advantage over people with normal color vision. There are some studies which conclude that color blind individuals are better at penetrating certain camouflages.
Information is taken from the website 'Wikipedia' and i hope everybody now clearly understands what this condition is and i feel the subject was worth mentioning. This allowed for me to create an creative diptych which I'm happy with.

A sort of anti-Orton effect. I subtracted a multiple of the original from a 5-times blurred version, all done using software I wrote myself today. Roach End, Staffordshire.
If 5-times blurred sounds tedious - well, the program I wrote does all 5 automatically (well, as many as I want, actually), displaying each iteration sequentially and automatically and saves the result automatically, without further intervention.
Paid a visit up to the Fortress Wales multi era re-enactment - (Mon 2nd May) - but mainly to get some more portraits of the 'Ragged Victorians'.
Giving Nik Software HDR efex Pro 2 a test run. I'm not big into HDR, but sometimes it's just kinda necessary (in small amounts). Now that I've got an awesome tripod of awesomeness, it's time I learned to embrace it.
Also thinking it might be time to leave my beloved CNX2. I love it. I wish they would upgrade it and fix all the problems with it and maybe give us a few more features, but it's been YEARS since NX2 was released, there's been no news from nik software of any intention of upgrading it, and their newest versions of the plug-ins aren't even compatible with NX..... sigh....
Testing CS6 with the nik software plug-ins now to see if I can make it close enough to NX2 to convince myself to make the switch.
