I love that this sign for a comic book shop, offers teleportation.

The government has taken over our lives in ways we would have never imagined. First they claimed we would have to "stay at home" and "stay safe at home", until they "flattened the curve", then the goal post was moved to "we must stay inside until we get a vaccine". Then pompous NY Governor Cuomo told his constituents to stay home, don't go out, shouted for ventilators on and on he went. A recent report shows that those infected and dying in NYS were people that stayed at home, were retired or unemployed. That group was affected by Covid 19 more than anyone else in that state, 66%, to be exact. Winston Churchill once said, "No crisis should go to waste". Will our politicians take advantage of this crisis to fundamentally change our freedoms and way of life. Will they use this crisis to further their financial enrichment? There are signs this is already happening. They are arresting people that open their businesses, they send in Police SWAT Teams to close down beaches, parks and parties at private homes. Mayor Lightfoot in Chicago said she would arrest anyone that had a party.

And just prior to this massive government overreach, Senators Burr, Feinstein, Inhofe and possibly others dumped millions of dollars in investments shortly before the recent market crash. They did so after receiving daily briefings on the Covid 19 health threat. How have these people achieved political office? That's a question all Americans have to grapple with after Covid 19 is gone.

How are you managing? I went for a walk with my wife, youngest daughter and Buddy. We stayed away from everybody. Even when I bought the coffee.

It was so enjoyable (and we washed our hands the minute we got in the front door).

The rules seems to change everytime I visit. And everytime I visit the stress level seems to increase.

One way system is new. No-one seemed to take any notice. One guy got threatened by the security guard after jumping the queue. Another guy was asked to leave (he'd sneaked in with his wife). 1 person per household only!

I told someone that "there is a one-way system" pointing to the arrows on the floor. Next time I saw her she said "I hope you are telling that to everyone going the wrong way" in a snarky tone.

I should know better. Won't bother next time.

Day 47 we look at graphs. Good information is the best tool to be able to fight the disease. However people across countries compete to see who has the worst absolute numbers without considering the special circumstances in each.

She was moving at a crawling pace and distant. I briefly considered attempting to chat, mentioning diplomatically about how the mask was unnecessary and probably not healthy either when out of doors and away from crowds... but what difference would it have made I wonder.

No students in the building means I can wear jeans to work! Well, in my book it means that. And no one said otherwise, so . . . I decided to keep it business on top (for the kids when we have our video lessons) but casual on the bottom. Something like a mullet? I don't know.

A stranger I met on my beach walk

I made this photo on April 6, 2020 as Melody and I were standing in line an hour and 20 minutes before the Costco warehouse store near San Francisco Airport was scheduled to open. This was in the early days of social distancing; but everyone was wearing masks and keeping distance though no lines had yet been painted on the pavement. The store seemed to be well prepared as they opened an hour early to accommodate us. Distancing, shopping, and checkout systems have gotten better throughout the many weeks since the Bay Area's shelter-in-place was ordered. I shot this using my Samsung S10e cell phone that I carried with me for a couple weeks before returning to relying on my trusty point and shoot Canon SX50.
