Taken in Captains Wood on one of my daily exercise walks last week, a dog walker on a parallel path keeping a safe distance!

The edge of day...Chasing the light in the woodland forest, following the path towards the setting sun. Francis/King Regional Park, Saanich, Vancouver Island, BC.

Francis King Regional Park is a 107-hectare park, nestled in rural Saanich. The woodland park is home to massive old growth forest including magnificent 500-year-old Douglas-fir trees. There is a vast network of woodland walking and hiking trails as well as a boardwalk loop trail for those with mobility issues, an ideal place for visitors of all abilities to explore nature.

This Photo was taken about 4 years ago at the Botanical Gardens in Sheffield UK, there is some great areas of different coloured crocus. I thought this photo represented the worlds currant situation.

Fiona's latest work follows in her well established style of three dimensional works using brush painting techniques, walk through worlds that encourage you to look carefully and from many angles.

Chuanghu is a departure, as well, for the artist. Instead of the light, open, natural scenes of her previous works, this has a dark, dense and urban feel to it, with movement (both the work and the avatars within it) that pulls you deep inside. But it also encourages whimsy, in the animations and poses she has placed throughout the space, and the many windows encouraging you to look through and frame what she has painted.

I'll have a number of other photos from the work soon.

I was at Costco yesterday and things definitely felt different from previous few times. There was no longer a line to limit the number of people entering the warehouse and although people wore masks, it felt uncomfortably crowded inside. People were not following the social distancing guidelines and getting too close to one another without any regard. I did not feel safe...

This was taken only a month ago when it was quiet pretty much everywhere and those that were out were careful to distance and watched out for each other--I doubt that'll be the case too much longer...😞

Amid the Coronavirus pandemic, it’s comforting that we can escape the insanity and take solace in nature. This woodland scene is from one of my favourite woodland escapes...beautiful Francis/King Regional Park, Saanich, Vancouver Island, BC.

The park gets its name from the surnames of James Francis whose father purchased the property in the 1840s and his good friend Thomas (the Skipper) King. James Francis was a lover of nature, refusing to donate his land to the city of Victoria as well as declining monetary offers from others to log the land. Thank goodness we have these beautiful gems in nature to enjoy especially during these times.

This is a view from the Point Reyes Life-saving Station Cemetery looking towards Drakes Estero. The remains of some sailors from the Life-saving station were reburied from their original burial locations near the coastline to this location. They were buried in a really nice location with this view on one side of the bluff and the Pacific Ocean on the other.

My friend Steffen and I explored the Point Reyes earlier this year. We stayed at the hostel and really enjoyed the people that we got to visit with there. We thought we would see a lot of college age people and instead saw a lot gray haired people like me. This was a great road trip and this location just had a special feel to it.

Stay safe while we social distance.
