No lockdown, no masks, no distancing. A memory from past at a ferryghat near Kolkata. Better zoomed.

It seems so strange that your choices could impact people all the way across the world but we're finding that is true in a new way now more than ever. This Coronavirus is no joke so please, if you aren't a healtcare worker and if you don't have to leave your home, stay home. Remember, Asymptomatic people can carry this disease to those who are more vulnerable.

Create art instead. And check in with your family and friends even if it is just through phone calls, emails, DMs and texts. Social distancing is hard but at least we aren't living in the 1970s when we'd just have rotary phones and letters.

On a more inspiring note is the Iranian immigrant to Berlin, Kani Alavi, who transformed the Berlin Wall remnants into a freedom of expression art space.

A good way to visit family while maintaining a good, if not perfect, social isolation. I was pretty sure I could maintain social distance outdoors with my son and daughter-in-law, but I wasn't so sure about my 3 year-old grandson. Not seeing my grandchildren for the past two months has been the most difficult part of this Covid 19 crisis. But he was so excited about exploring, it was hard to keep up with him. A delightful and exhilarating day. One photo a day. (136/366) Teatown Lake Reservation, Ossining, NY -- May 15, 2020

It's not too hard to social distance in my neighbourhood. My view from my walk today.

As is my soul staring out windows in this lost year of confinement due to COVID-19.

Wishing you all health in these times.

Social distancing and need to test out my old F2 with MD-2 gave me the opportunity to use what I had - a short roll of TMY2 and some diafine. Good to see that the camera still works, and that Diafine can handle the T-square emulsion. Everyone be safe out there!

The eagles and gulls follow social distancing regulations as they commence the day with a little over ripened salmon

Have a fabulous day, everyone...

In questi tempi di isolamento, ecco che mi tornano alla mente alcune foto di case davvero isolate... e che oggi sarebbero considerate come un asset davvero invidiabile.

They rarely get too close to each other :)

Yes those are my nicked and coffee splashed walking boots - perfectly comfortable for street photography and nicely supportive of my dodgy ankle. Captured in August 2020 with 'Social Distance' markings sprayed outside of a branded store on Buchanan Street - no prizes for guessing the brand!

IMPORTANT:

If you are one of the people out there who look at 'underlying health conditions' in people dying from Covid-19 and think that those people don't matter then please feel free to unfollow me on Flickr as I will not enter into a discussion with you about this subject.

I just saw a headline in the Telegraph, a UK Newspaper sometimes referred to as the 'Torygraph', proudly boasting that only 6 'healthy' UK children have died from Covid-19. This comes on the day when the 110th child has died in the UK from Covid-19 or the complications of Covid-19. That headline implies that the other 104 children's lives meant nothing because they had 'underlying health conditions'.

Did you know that the term 'underlying health conditions' refers as much to cancer as it does to an ingrown toenail. It could be a child with ADHD, a child with asthma, a child with a now-treated congenital heart defect, a child with diabetes or any other disease. There is nothing to say that those children wouldn't live long and fulfilling lives contributing to society.

Over 2/3 of those 110 deaths have occurred since September when schools returned with no mandatory masks, distancing, ventilation policy and no vaccination programme effectively in place.

I know some of you hate it when I get political but I am not generally political in a partisan sense here, for me it is always about the humanity or lack thereof that brings me to comment.

The shameful inhumanity of that Telegraph headline and anyone who thinks along the same lines is beyond words. I have 3 of the top 4 co-morbidities for Covid-19. I have numerous underlying health conditions. I developed them as a direct result of working to help others. My life is worth no less because of them and I could, hopefully, go on to live many more decades yet.

We are one species on one tiny blue planet in the vastness of space. It's about time we worked together rather than fought against each other. Stay safe my Flickr friends.

With a lockdown in place it is against the rules for me to go to places I like to shoot, so I though I would try to create a series called Isolated creativity. The series is not intended to be a diary but a way of documenting thoughts and emotions via photography.

Without a vaccine or an effective treatment I cannot see how we will return to the way we were before.

2020 was a long and winding road. I drove to Death Valley for a change of scenery and it was one of the few places I could travel to during the lockdown. In the midst of isolation, the vast landscapes offered comfort. The journey through covid is far from over. May the memory of lives lost be a blessing. May the New Year be a healthier, happier one. As this year draws to a close, I am simply "looking forward."
