Day 193 of 365 - Snyder
My dog is not a fan of having his picture made. I managed to grab this one before he ran off today. His expression, to me, tells the story of his annoyance at me holding my camera. In any case it is one of the few decent pictures of him I have been able to get.

Obituary, J. A. Snyder.
J. A. Snyder was born in Montgomery, Oneida county, N. Y. April 21, 1833. He came to Kansas in 1856 and on October 27th, of the following year, was married to Isabel Pryum. In 1862 he went to Indiana and on the 20th of August enlisted and served with Battery K, of the 11th Indiana, until June 30, 1865. After being mustered out at Indianapolis he came to Kansas and settled on a farm near Wellsville. His later years have been spent in town.
For two years he was city marshal, an office whose duties he performed faithfully. He was a member of Lookout Post of the G. A. R. and the funeral services Saturday were held under their auspices. Interment was in the Wellsville cemetery.
The deceased leaves his wife and three children, Louise McCullough, Mary Snyder and Ed Snyder to mourn his loss.
J. A. Snyder was a man of strict integrity and honesty. He had had a liberal education and was a great reader. His almost total deafness, brought on in army service was an affliction cheerfully borne, and his personal bearing amidst trials and troubles would serve as a model for many more fortunate than he.
