The National Colonial Farm exhibit site during the great "Snownami" of 2010. Beautiful and picturesque!

Snowpocalypse! Snowmageddon! Snownami! It's true, terms like these have been bandied about by local broadcasters, newspapers, and everyone in the Twitterverse.
True, it is snowing heavily in Seattle - still. What was first predicted to be 6-14 inches of snowfall in the city, then 5-7 and everything in between is now continuing well past what we thought might happen. Snowfall was predicted to fall off or turn to rain by today, yet it keeps falling.
I decided to fight the cabin fever and get into the mess with my camera. If only my early birthday present, a Thinktank Retrospective 10, would've arrived even earlier, I could've had an easier time of it. Still, two thumbs up on the worry free weather resistant properties of the D7000.
Seattle is rarely this pretty or this quiet. Everyone, including my poor girlfriend, who has to work surely abhors the snowfall, but I adore it.

Today was the first major snowfall of the season.
Carver County MN 2010
Big snow flakes and 6" of heavy wet snow fell today as seen in this photo. Our first big "snow event" of the season. The blanket of snow in the foreground drops off down a steep hill to a wood lot giving a clean line across the image. Our TV weather reporting terrorists enjoy scaring their viewers into storm shelters promoting urban indoor lockdown. They predicted some snow today but this isn't enough to keep Minnesotan's inside. We've seen much worse and there's four more months and many more snownami's ahead. No Photoshop used.
Snowmageddon, Snownami, Antarctic Vortex. These were just some of the names given to a super cold front that pushed its way up the East Coast of Australia, resulting in significant snow falls. With snow fall predicted i made an early morning dash for the Barrington Tops a couple of hours from hour and i wasnt disappointed !

Representing at snowmageddon/snownami 2011. Now where could I buy a surfboard around here... (2025 EDIT: My sister took this photo with one of my cameras)
