The other morning I headed down to Lake Charlevoix to see the blue ice. More shifting and more along the shore line. Very pretty when the sun is out. Made me smile so I left a foot SMILE for the next person.
For Looking close... on Friday! theme, "tip"--I was going to post a more appropriately "pointy" tip, but couldn't resist the humor. Happy weekend! 😄

I'm very lucky. I have a friend who owns a farm, and amongst the produce she is kind enough to give me, I get free range eggs from her brood of chickens and ducks. I never get such quality eggs from anywhere as I do from her: always larger eggs with big or sometimes double yolks. Her eggs always help make the best cakes, and I'm sure it is because her brood are happy and may roam where they please. So I am a firm believer that happy eggs make the best cakes!
Well, necessity is the mother of invention, and the theme for "Smile on Saturday" for the 31st of December of "smiley" had me stumped for a while. I couldn't find a single smiley in my house or on my travels since the theme was announced, so I had to create my own on one of my friend's "happy eggs", which I thought most apt. I hope you like my choice for this week's theme and that it makes you smile.
As this is the last "Smile on Saturday" of the year, I should just like to take this opportunity to wish everyone in the group a very happy New Year. May it be filled with happiness and joy for you all.
My brother gave me a bunch of Chrysanthemums today, they brightened up a very dull, windy and rainy day! HSoS!
A tree had fallen across the trail and was cut to allow hikers and bikers to get by. It looks like the forest crew was in a good mood that day as they cut a smiley face into the log with a chainsaw. A fun way to leave a mark while cleaning up.

I have had this small plastic smiley ball for quite sometime. It does indeed make me smile on Saturday and everyday of the week.
Smiley faces waiting for 2021 to happen on Gloucester Street, Manchester; along the road from the derelict ‘Hotspur Press’ building..! While 'Rainman' strikes again....!
Well, it's almost a smiley face - just a slightly flat one! (In the frame that followed this, it was a frowning face!)

Happy Nice Wonderful Clouds Tuesday!
(I was trying to categorise this shot, so, I have decided it is a wildlife, cloud, sunrise, telephoto, landscape, panorama, birds in flight, silhouette shot.....just to keep things simple!)

The theme for "Smile on Saturday" for the 28th of December is "smiley in selective colour", a theme chosen because this is the last theme of this year. Where does the time go? Now this theme sounds fairly easy in comparison to some we have had this year, but whereas some of those more difficult themes have been easy for me, this one was far more challenging. Why? Because I don't have a single smiley in the house, and I have no idea where to get one from. So, I decided the only solution was to draw my own, which I did with my beloved Derwent Studio pencils. I did that on purpose partially because I needed a smiley, but also, because the theme is selective colour, I wanted to show the name of the colours I used in the photo in the black and white portion of the photo. I hope you like my choice for this week's theme, and that it makes you smile like my smiley!
As this is the last "Smile on Saturday" before the New Year, I should just like to take this opportunity to wish everyone in the group a very happy New Year. May the year ahead be filled with happiness and joy for you all.

I posted the setup for this here. My thinking was to have some way to dribble water into a plane of focus that I could count on and simultaneously set the size of the image. I focused on the template and managed to get the water to dribble down the plastic and drip off the edge as I was pressing the button on my remote trigger. It was then a matter of taking a few hundred shots as I was squeezing the plastic bottle. Needless to say, I had no idea what the droplets would look like as I was capturing the images other than viewing them on camera in order to check focus. The sky, the background and the refractive nature of water combined to create what you see. Enlarge the photo and check out the happy face in the middle. HMM and thanks for any views, faves, and comments.
While photographing leaves with bokeh from the sky shining through, I came across this leaf with a smiley face design. It made me happy.
