"Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns."

Bientôt nous plongerons dans les froides ténèbres ;

Adieu, vive clarté de nos étés trop courts !

J'entends déjà tomber avec des chocs funèbres

Le bois retentissant sur le pavé des cours.........

{Soon we shall plunge into the cold darkness;

Farewell, vivid brightness of our short-lived summers!

Already I hear the dismal sound of firewood

Falling with a clatter on the courtyard pavements.........}

In the spring and especially in the summer, it's a pleasure to walk around the countryside because you can enjoy the variety of smells in our climate: thyme (in the photograph), oregano, rosemary, lavender, fennel and my favorite, the soft, subtle smell of broom. I'm sure I'm forgetting others, but these are sufficient as a sample..

This shot was taken in a nature park near where I live, and close to the mountain of Montserrat, which it shares the formation and characteristics with.

Our February 2024 week-long trip to New Brunswick started off with single digit temps, and clear skies. After a six hour drive, NBSR train 120 departed McAdam, NB just after sunrise with 3 immaculate NBSR SD70M-2's and fresh Maine wood chips on the head-end. First shootable light was at the beginning of the dreaded Cork-Rooth road, shown here approaching Roach Road with NBSR 6409 leading the way headed to St. John, NB. February 18, 2024.

Mu Lavender bush was getting rather tatty so I pruned it heavily over the winter. But it now has a few slightly tatty flowers which are attracting the bees. So no Lavender sachets this year from this plant at least. HMM:))

This is a view of the bay was taken in the picnic table area at a highway rest stop in Clearwater, Florida. You would think that this would be a wonderful spot to take a break from driving. However, the strong odor of the red tide, which is harmful algae bloom in the water, along with dozens of large dead fish rotting on the shoreline because of the bloom, forcefully diminishes one's enjoyment of the beautiful vistas of the bay.
