a clear morning after the party, thinking about... ähhm...do you know that feeling? beeing alone between so many people? from one moment to another you hear every sound in "slowmotion", everything is faded. like your old fav. t-shirt - without the good feelings. than you need clear, fresh air and space - you need a sit on a roof top, because only the sky is high and wide enough for your mind...
omg - i did it again. writing rubbish. so sorry, folks. but maybe someone understand that feeling? kisses.
Today Molly and i road north on the Blue Ridge Parkway to Otter Lake to Capture this. Along the way we did test out the new lens and for a few new things to go back and explore more.
Behind the scenes on my iPhone slow-mo hummingbird videos. Actually, this was my initial setup, but after this I slowly moved the ladder and tripod closer and closer to the feeder until the hummingbird activity filled more of the frame.
Back to Crooklets Beach, Bude, Cornwall again yesterday evening to capture the sunset.
Not a great amount of colour in the sky so tried a long exposure using a Lee ‘Little Stopper’ filter to slow down the Atlantic waves which were pounding the rocky coast in an attempt to create a dramatic seascape – and yes I did get wet feet!
10 second exposure using a Lee ‘Little Stopper’ 6 stop ND filter with a 0.9 ND grad over the sky.

This was fun to do just experimenting with my off camera flash, a plate of milk & a small young assistant who ten minutes earlier said he was bored.
I let him press the remote shutter release whilst i hand held the flash so really it was his accurate timing which captured the shot. What was even more funny was that the plate kept filling up so it was down to him to keep the milk level down by drinking it using a straw. He must have drunk a full pint that day ...lol
It was quite amazing to go through the 100+ shots afterwards & think this was the best one.
The remarkable thing was he said it was the best experiment he had ever done - Bordom Solved.... !

It is unique in that Dublin is the only capital country in Europe to have a swimming race through the middle of the city. The Dublin City Liffey Swim is the highlight of the open sea swimming season.

Taken at the Singapore Science Museum. It's this little device with a knob at the bottom that makes water flow backwards and forwards in slow motion.
This photo was taken last weekend in Dingle at a currach race where crews from all over Ireland came to compete in a rowing event in a currach, which is a traditional wooden rowing boat.
Just a bit of fun really. The sound of a juvenile buzzard calling from the trees in slow motion sounded really weird, like someone shouting out in pain lol! Shame I couldn't see it as well as hear it.

Yes, this is very blurred but I wanted to explore a more artistic rendition of the bald eagle in flight... don't worry all my gear is still working fine. The good thing is you do not have to spend any time trying to sharpen those images... no matter what you do, that is not going to work :)

First attempt with slow shutter speed with new camera. Had a ND lens for my old camera but nothing fits this camera. Still trying new techniques. Any Ideas?
Messing around shooting high speed video at 480 frames per second.
side note: Still trying to figure out the best compression for flickr (way too blurry).

I was so fortunate to have the gulls fly and dance for me when I was at Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal in North Yorkshire. The light was ideal. If the rain stops again before I leave Yorkshire, I'll go back for some more!
Here's a behind the scenes look at my hummingbird slow mo video setup. I did a bunch of variations on this to get different angles and every time I changed it the hummingbirds wound act suspicious for awhile and then get used to it and relax.
I feel a bit bad this photo itself isn't more photogenic, but it does show the setup. I'll try to take some prettier behind the scenes shots next time ;-)

The rain core from this thunderstorm provided the perfect pathway for lightning to reach the ground. Once the bolt did reach the ground, all the step leaders (branching) were no longer needed and the bolt became a singularity (mostly a smooth structure).
Taken with a GoPro 11 in slow motion mode. The lightning was between 2 and 3 miles away. The last of these 5 clips were repeated by slowing it down even more.
