I don't know if they are Russian, they could just as easily be Polish or from some other Slavic nation.

The cricketers on the village green have four men giving an impression of a slo-mo replay of a ball being bowled, which was very well done.

In the foreground (and over on the right by the maypole), members of the London Symphony Orchestra, with instruments, are making their way across the fields to their seats on the far side of the stadium. This gentle, gradual staged arrival of the musicians filtering into and through the Wonder Isles segment was nicely done and so much better than just walking out en masse from the main stand to take their seats.

Still experimenting - have to learn much!!

What I should have done better:

50fps instead of only 25fps

Slower Shutter Speed instead of 1/1000s

I think these are the reasons for the flickering :-(

Happy Canada Day to all my Canadian flickr friends!

Canadian nationalism is very modest. I feel comfortable with it, for the most part, and I am privileged and happy to live here. There is no reason one should not feel pride in the accomplishments of one's country, particularly a tolerant, prosperous, progressive country like ours. Lots yet to do, of course, like redressing past mistakes and solving current problems such as ongoing child poverty and an abysmal environmental (non) policy. All-in-all, Canada, you are doing well. Happy birthday.

Slowed down, flowing waterfall tumbling over large rocks and granite, with a fallen tree and other debris in this Tasmanian river.

A match being lit in a dark room. A bit out of focus because I am a rookie with this camera. This is Casio Ex-F1 300fps video. Also shoots full HD (1080x1920) and full-frame 6mp jpgs at 60fps. Don't know where to start with this toy, so here's some "first light" of a match lighting and burning in a dark room. Real time duration is about nine seconds.

Slow motion video of Bonkers drinking water from the bathtub at the hotel where we (me and the cats) stayed before the flight to Japan. I didn't know that major hotels accept pets now (as long as you pay a deposit and keep the room as clean as possible, which I did - I brought two tarps and disposal litter boxes as well as lots of garbage bags - the cats were nervous at first but soon enjoyed exploring the new room they found themselves in).

Remember little baby Hayley? She just turned 7 years old. Time flies faster thanHayley spins at mealtime!

That funny scary "wooo wooo wooo" you hear at the end is Charley whistling in slo-mo.

What a crock... the "new Photo Experience" does not support video! If you find yourself stuck in that view, you can opt out again (at least temporarily) by clicking on the blue "Help" in the bottom left corner of your screen.

Video clip - 57 seconds long.

I love filming Beeflies as they hover and feed from flowers.

India (the pomeranian) walking in slow motion

This is the slowest slowmotion my Casio does. The quality drops off, but when you think about what this P&S is accomplishing, it is pretty cool. Jerky playback is flickr's problem, not the source video.

This wonderful video captures lightning in slow motion. Watch it get to know the hidden parts of each bolt.

Slow-motion video of Tigger grooming herself on the kitchen table.

Here is a classic bit of fluid dynamics. Noah Phillips and I spend a day in the lab playing with the high speed camera they recently acquired. I was a little surprised at how small the parameter space was to achieve a good series of bounces. Near the end of this clip, you can see waves entering from the lower right. I think these are reflections of low frequency sloshing modes set up by the initial droplet. The smallest droplet bounces off these waves and starts moving off to the side. In any case it is pretty cool. The only issue is that there was some dust on the sensor (dark spots that don't move). The camera is a Vision Research Phantom v7.3 high speed video camera.

Remembered new phone can do slow motion.
