I was wondering how my 1 year old Border Collie Hunter was getting out of my fenced backyard.

I shot this video of a squirrel on a fence on a walk in San Jose, California. I did not realize my iPhone video was set to sloww motion, but I am glad it was.

Slowed down to 8%. Sound is actually very beautiful too at this speed, though except for the hummingbird chirps, I have no idea what the sounds are.

WHY CAN'T WE SEE THAT CARING FOR EACH OTHER MAKES THE DIFFERENCE (1'35)

Piano improvisation: Orlando Bay

A special encounter on a garden wall. An ant seems to be paralysed. But then something suprising and heart touching happens: another ant comes to help her. The first one seems to wake up and continues her way like all the others. Are we abble to see that empathy is a nature's law?

Mindfulness is a social issue. Without it, we will be more and more seperated and isolated. If we keep our eyes open, we can discover love and caring for each other everywhere. But our mind has to be open.

Newstead Abbey, the home of Lord Byron, has some great romantic water features. I decided to experiment with the slow motion facility on my Sony RX10 M3 to capture them. I made several errors, but that's all part of the learning process, so I'm sharing them anyhow! The first cascade is in the Japanese garden. The second is nearer the Abbey. You can walk to a little room behind the water curtain of the cascade. Two of the clips are from there. Now, I wonder what that secluded space got used for ;-)

I think she has flopped outside her pen and cottage only 2 or 3 times before, so this was a real surprise. It looks like she even surprised herself a little, judging by the awkward feint moves and the bit of clumsiness involved in that first floppage 😂

Once a year, we're usually treated to hundreds (maybe thousands?) of dragonflies flying around behind our house for a few hours. Flying ants hatch and rise out of the ground, and the dragonflies are there to snatch them up. We call it The Night of the Flying Ants and it's quite magical! Some years there will be a lot of seagulls flying around, as well, but this year they must have been elsewhere.

I shot this Cooper's Hawk in slow motion through the kitchen window this morning. These birds don't appear in the yard all that often, but when they do it's always a thrill! Since I was inside the house, you don't get to listen to this creature's eerie sounds, but I think the music gives it a rather cinematic feel.
