Me and Sisco today went in a local print shop: they were throwing out several metal types so we went and collected them. Pretty much all of them were cast by Nebiolo (a now defunct type foundry, which was based in Torino, Italy). Some of them are in bad state, some of them are quite good. We’ll see. We recognized letters from CignoSlogan, Semplicità, Bodoni and Eurostile.

"We will deliver" and "Travel by Train" are two famous train lines. Here they meet in Denver, Colorado.

For some reason, whenever I see a news van, all the old news channel slogans pop into my head. Most often, it's "There's that Channel 7 News van again" from when I lived in California (though I believe 7 was ABC, not FOX - which was KTVU on channel 2...? Yes, I used to watch the news a lot as a kid. Heh. :)
Anyway, this was parked on the pier in preparation to watch the ship leave on Friday. I almost didn't get to park on the pier... but the MA noticed I'm pregnant, and I told the security guard I had four kids with me in the van (my oldest is 9, my youngest is 15 mos) and it was cold and windy and damp... and so they got me special permission "from the top" to allow me to drive down and park on the pier. I was soooo grateful, because I have no idea where I'd have parked, given it was during working hours and couldn't park in the usual spots; and I'd probably have missed the ship leaving and getting to wave to my husband.
I accidentally parked on one of their wires (OOPS!) so they were a little worried when I arrived back at my van - probably that they'd never find out whose van it was and they'd have to stay there for who-knows how long?! I apologized profusely but they were very gracious - and one of them even let me peek into the van to watch the ship going away on one of their monitors. It was pretty cool - I'd never seen the inside of a news van before.
