I took this last evening in Deering Oaks Park in Portland, Maine. It is a three image HDR. The purple areas are a result of some purple holiday lights in the nearby trees. There had been some melting of the snow during the day that had frozen before I arrived. Most of the walkway was treacherous to walk on without Yak Trax or something similar on one's shoes. I stuck to walking on the snow. The ice does give a nice shiny surface.
Number 3 slip at Chatham Historic Dockyard. One of the most amazing wooden buildings I have visited. When it was built in 1838 this was Europe’s largest wide span timber structure.
I was persuaded by my better half to leave the colour in this (despite a strong temptation to go mono). Apparently the warmth of the wood shines through. Hope the red fire extinguisher is not too distracting though :)
We recently spent some time practicing what to do if all of the sudden the apparatus you are driving loses traction and ends up sliding sideways. At first, this is alarming, but after a few times on the skid pan, you pick up what to do and then, I have to admit, it's actually fun.
I learned not to panic, not to over correct, and to react in a slow and controlled manner.

Due to limited time, I decided to combine my builds for the months of SHIPtempber, GARCvember and NeoClassicSpaceruary into one.
And the best part is, my WIP shot is also my final shot :)

Summer has well and truly arrived here in Australia and it is too hot to wear a slip under my dress.
So I have had to make a chioce, either wear a slip and no dress or a dress and no slip.
Slip on ice
Got lucky on this one as I turned around to snap a shot of him experimenting with ice when he slipped and fell :)
Juste à temps pour capturer sa chute sur la glace :)
Although a bit slow, Brian's natural flare for the slide rule enabled him to perform calculations with a grace and elegance that were the envy of his fellow science classmates with their electronic calculators.
For Macro Mondays theme 'Back in the Day'.
No snails or slide rules were harmed in the making of this photograph.
The sandstone around Moab is called "slickrock." It's actually very grippy, though. It was so named due to the fact that horses' metal shoes couldn't get a grip on it. Rubber shoes would have been the way to go!
Stunning vesta of the split rock at Clachtoll Assynt Scotland for my friend Lune Rambler as this is an area that she loves so much
Here i am on the floor, and pulling up my slip, showing my lingerie.
