date stamped on slide, December 25, 1986. Handwritten on slide: "Marge, Isabelle, Florence, Johnny ready to eat at Christmas dinner -- Pomona"

We saw no sign of this big chunk of invasive species all winter. The original pond was concrete, and it is still there under a thin layer of imported soil and vegetation, so burrowing into the bank is actually not as simple as it seems. But it obviously has a safe spot to escape to.
